So how long with BR really be the standard, that is why I am leaning the direction of a PS3, at least I can play games once new tech comes out for movies. My HD-DVD player only got used for roughly 3-4 months. As for compatibility I think all of those issues have been cleaned up, but I may be wrong. My television isn't big enough to make the picture graniness of DVD show up significantly and I NEVER use any of the DVD extra features. I'm still lead to believe that SOny is still the best way to go with BluRay due to their involvement in developing the technology. Is that still a fact?
