On the newly announced Accessibility at Google site, there was a blog post highlighting the application Talking RSS Reader for Android. Talking RSS Reader for Android is an application which reads your Google Reader articles to you.
Talking RSS Reader for Android uses the new text-to-speech APIs recently introduced as part of Android 1.6. You log into your Google Reader account and it syncs your articles. You can look at particular feeds or just read the river of news in Reader. You can change settings such as making the speech faster or slower.
The application also uses the buttons on your device, allowing you to play or pause speech by pushing the Call button, moving back or forward in an article using the trackball. There are also next and previous buttons to navigate between articles. In addition, you can star articles, look at starred articles and more.
Taking RSS Reader is a great application for those who cannot read their feeds but want to be able to keep up on their Google Reader news items. This could include the visually impaired or those who want to listen to feeds while driving or taking the bus.
Talking RSS Reader is available for free in the Android Market and requires a Google Reader account to sync with.
