Apple - iPhone - Mobile phone, iPod, and Internet device..jpg

Here are two news-worthy iPhone bits…

First up… Apple is reportedly upping their production of the iPhone 3GS by some 20%. In other words, Apple underestimated the demand for the phone and, half a year after its release demand is still high for it. Pretty impressive!

Then there is this…

In less than a year and a half Apple has now approved over 100,000 apps in the App Store. As Cult of Mac points out, by comparison there are 246 Windows Mobile apps in their store and about 96 for the Palm Pre. Even if these numbers were triple Cult of Mac’s count it is still pretty darn amazing.

Yes, 100,000 apps- enough to find an app for just about anything… so long as you can wade through the other 99,999 apps to find what you want.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
