The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced to voluntary recalls.

The first involves two Halloween themed flashlights which were sold at Target stores between August 2009 – September 2009.

1.  Mini Flaslights – the mini flashlights have a key ring extending from the bottom and were sold in a pack of three colors: orange, green and black.  The orange and purple packaging has “Mini Flashlights (3 Pack)” printed on the front and “DGI”, “Made in China” and “DPCI# 234-02-1813″ printed on the back.

2.  Standard Size Flashlights – with a black handle and an orange top.  The flashlights were sold with six stencils in various colors and images:  a pumpkin,  ghost, spider, cat, witch and skull and cross bones.  “Flashlight with Stencil” is printed on the front and “Tien Hsing”, “Made in China”  and “234-02-1838″ is printed on the back.

There have been up to 8 reports of the flashlights overheating including one burn to the hand as a result.  Consumers should stop using the flashlights and immediately return them to a Target store for a refund.

The second recall involves a Sony computer AC adapter.  The adapter which has been recalled is model VGP-AC19V17.  It was sold with the following Sony computers.

Sony has received four reports of the adapter short circuiting.

Consumers should stop using this power adapter and contact Sony directly to arrange for a replacement.
