These may look nice and sound great, but the quality control is dubious to say the least. My wife bought me a pair for Christmas. By the end of January one of the ear pieces had stopped working. Sleek replaced it only for one of them to break again less than a week later. I’m always careful with them so it’s not anything I’m doing. I’ve had Etymotics last me years, I guess I’ll have to go back to buying those. That’s $79 down the drain.

@dothedance – well that’s good to know! I just took a look at the UE site, and while it’s true that the cable can be replaced, it is certainly a little more tricky to accomplish than by just unplugging, and I don’t know that I would necessarily call it “interchangeable”.

Unfortunately my 5pros are long gone, but I just got a set of 700s from a friend. I’ll keep the replacement cables in mind if there is ever a problem.

Both the original Super.fi 5 (not the new SuperFi 5) and the cheaper Super.fi/SuperFi 3 have interchangeable cables, saying nothing of their higher end models. Replacement cables run about $20 on UE’s website.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology. Clearly these are not the “first wireless earphones” with a backup feature. To claim otherwise is disingenuous at best and lying at worst.

They look great but I’m not keen on their marketing. The website has something demonstrably untrue on it:

“These are the first wireless earphones that don’t leave you stranded when the wireless system runs out of battery; simply plug your cables back in and you’re back into a state of audio bliss.”

Erm… I’ve owned Plantronics P590 bluetooth stereo headphones since August 2007. They came with an “in-flight” cable which allows you to simply connect the cable and bypass the whole wireless element.

Sleek Audio SA1s may be great but they’re not the “first” to have this feature.

I was just looking at these earlier today, Judie! The rosewood bodies look great and the capabilities are really awesome for sub-$100 earphones, especially the conversion to wireless. I am also really picky about earbuds because I have ear canals on the small side, and I appreciate the fact that they think about how the buds will fit in women’s ears. I think I know what some of my Santa money might buy this year!
