I have to be honest. When I first heard about the Pogo Pen I was perplexed. I mean, the iPhone’s touch screen was designed so you DON’T need to use a stylus and here was a company selling… of all things… a stylus. What the…? Then I tried one. Honestly, there is good reason to carry a Pogo stylus with you. It is great if your hands are a bit grimy (for example after working in the garden), or if you are wearing gloves (it is already a cool day in the northeast). Moreover, with Ten One’s new Autograph software for “signing” on the MacBook’s trackpad, the Pogo Stylus or Sketch becomes invaluable. Best of all, Ten One is having a one day sale RIGHT NOW. For details read on…… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Have your heart set on a Nokia Booklet 3G? It’s now reported that Best Buy has confessed to being the exclusive US reseller of this snazzy netbook. There’s still nothing firm about how much it will cost or when you can buy. Earlier indications (aka rumors) had this being priced anywhere from $600 to $800 but since there’s a wireless 3G modem in the tank a carrier subsidy could come into play further lowering costs. If you don’t catch it at Best Buy for $800 there’s always Woot! in two months where many funky Netbooks with 1GB of non-expandable RAM soldered to the motherboard invariably turn up for $199 on closeout. Crunchgear and Slashgear Continue reading on Gear Diary …

When it was first released earlier this year, DataViz’ Documents-To-Go iPhone application supported creation and editing of Word, but not Excel documents. Anyone who purchased the application upon release paid a slightly discounted price, with promise that Excel editing was coming. When I checked last night to see if there were any updates available for the applications on my iPhone, version 2.0 of Docs-To-Go was available, featuring Excel file editing. Finally! There are two flavors of Docs-To-Go: with and without support for Exchange mail attachments. Looking in the iTunes store this morning, the price for the applications has risen since I last checked. Docs-To-Go with Exchange support is now $14.99 and without is $9.99 (up from $11.99… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

In case you missed this story, Yahoo posted a funny little PSA on how to go about what not to do when it comes to dispose of your old cell phone. Clearly the folks at Missouri University didn’t read Carly’s recent reminder about how to go about deleting information off your cell phone before you get rid of it. It seems the athletic department at Missouri University had some old cell phones to get rid of. The phones were sold at a University surplus sale and when the buyer, Bellman, purchased 25 of them for $190 he discovered that none of the information, (address book, text messages, e-mails etc.) had been deleted… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

I’ve enjoyed being able to schedule DVR recordings from my BlackBerry using the TiVo mobile site, but missed not having a dedicated device application that would give me more functionality and a faster interface than having to access options via a web site. As a TiVo and BlackBerry fan, I got just what I wanted with the new TiVo DVR Scheduler app, available through BlackBerry App World.… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

There’s a rumor floating on the web via TmoNews that Android G1 and MyTouch 3G users might be getting the Android 1.6 update (aka Donut) starting as soon as today. While that timeframe seems a bit aggressive, there’s no question that a newly updated Android with less lag would be a good thing. Here’s a video to walk you through what Android 1.6 improves including a peek at the new market application in action. TmoNews via Engadget Continue reading on Gear Diary …

There are adventures, and then there are great adventures, those usually described to friends and family as “trip of a lifetime” or the like. Video captured in high definition will bear witness to your tales and the folks at VholdR offer not only a choice of HD wearable camcorders but also a platform to share your adventures with the rest of the world.… Continue reading on Gear Diary …
