Apple has made it official- there are now 100,000 apps in the App Store. That’s pretty amazing considering the fact that Apple didn’t even want 3rd party apps at first. But less than a year and a half later, the store is 100,000 strong and growing. Sure a lot of them are ebooks, fart apps and general crApp apps, but there are also tons of gems.
For example, I left the office last night at 9:15pm and wanted to catch information on who my state’s next governor would be. A quick search and I had downloaded the official NPR app and the app from the Huffington Post.
Yup, with over 100,000 apps, there really is an app for just about everything.
Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”)
Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
