I have an upgrade due on 11/26, so that is my purchase date. I really want to try something new and more flexible than WinMo and I think this may be the one. Your input has been incredibly valuable. Thanks!

Thanks Jason. Just to be clear, I have not purchased yet. I have an upgrade due on 11/26, so that is my purchase date. I don't think you have any reason to worry or regret anything all. Now, feel free to correct me on any of this...I'm really not certain how your specific company may be set up. So, depending on how your company *IS* set up with their Exchange server(s) -- I am gonna just assume they're all set up with SP2 and already using Direct Push for ActiveSync given you stated that's how you were set up with your previous WinMo device -- that means you should be getting those emails on your new DROID just as quick as they hit Exchange (the only thing with "push" is it tends to drain device batteries a bit quicker, but that really should not be a wet blanket either IMHO; since that will really be comparable to any device out there).
The "thing" (and really, it's not a "deal breaker" just something to be aware of) will be for users who are set up for their company's Exchange using Fetch (say, fetch the email every 15 sec, 1 min, 1hr, etc). You could, theoretically, set up multiple accounts and have it configured to Push for 1, Fetch another at an interval, or even manually fetch the emails at your own choosing. What BGR found was when testing the DROID on an Exchange account configured to fetch the last day's emails, three days' of messages were retrieved no matter how the account was (re)configured.
If you just got the device today and will be setup Monday on your company's Exchange server, your IT dept will certainly be the "go to" folks for how they've set everything up and will be able to communicate any issues they've run into on any other Android 2.0 devices they've set up for email/contacts/calendar during the initial enterprise activation. So rest easy over the weekend and enjoy your new smartphone :D
Any Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) gurus who've already put some DROIDs on their network should FEEL FREE to chime in here and advise if they've discovered anything (settings, configs, etc) that would resolve the Fetch "issue" or if they've seen nothing but smooth sailing using Push or otherwise :)

@clingeek, first – a BIG congrats to you for the new handset. If I use the exchange capability with the Droid, can it send me emails as they added "live" to my inbox? Or do I have to manually "ask" it to send me my email each time I want to see my messages?
The reason I ask is that I have WinMo now and I rely on getting my email instantaneously (similar to a Blackberry) and I need to maintain this functionality for my job. I was totally psyched to get this phone and it appears on the surface that a cold blanket has been thrown on my plan.

I need a clarification. I think the one main assumption is that corporations are going to keep building upon the Exchange/MS Office legacy desktop applications.
While to some extent that will probably happen - I'm really looking very closely at Android because so much of my business is reliant on Google. If Android ties in nicely to Gmail (it does) and calendar (that too) and also contacts (uh huh) then I have my own MS Exchange -- without the pricey overhead of maintaining my servers and Microsoft software licenses.
For sure Google Apps is not eating Microsoft's lunch - at least not yet -- but once it starts to make real inroads (and I predict that it will) that's when you'll see more Android type adoption and less concern about the legacy Exchange stuff.
This recession's effects are going to be vast and long lasting. Expect a lot of corporations to continue to look at saving costs and I won't be surprised if increaslingly Exchange is a casualty of the cost savings.

Good points and it will take some time for Android to make inroads to corporations.
