We recently reviewed a number of the cases in Speck’s current case line-up. We were pretty impressed as all offer nice style and protection.

Speck has been kind enough to supply us with a number of their cases. Their one request … “Find them each a good home.”

So that’s what we are going to do. Which cases need a good home, and how can you enter to win one? Read on to find out.

First up for giveaway are seven Speck CandyShell cases.

As Speck describes it…

Never before has the flexibility and protection of a soft rubberized case been combined with the durability and scratch protection of a sleek hard shell in a seamless single-piece design… until now. CandyShell’s soft, colorful rubberized interior keeps your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS insulated from life’s bumps and knocks, while the shiny outer hard shell protects it from scratches and lets you slip it in and out of pockets easily.

The iPhone 3G/3GS cases hav an MSRP of $34.95 but we have three to give away for nuthin’!

We have one in WaxStick White, one in Purple Pink and one in Aquaberry Blue. How do you enter to win? Keep reading!

Speck’s Fitted cases offer a sleek case with a fabric-wrapped back. It feels great in the hand, looks sleek and, best of all, adds a nice degree of traction so the device is less likely to slip out of your hand.

It has an MSRP of $29.95 but we have one in Black and White Plaid to give away. But wait… there’s more. Keep reading!

The PixelSkin for the 5th Generation iPod nano offers great protection. We reviewed it HERE.

It has an MSRP of $19.95 but we have two to give away (one without retail packaging).

Okay, so how do you win? Simple. There are two ways and each will be counted as a separate entry.

First, leave a comment below and tell us your worst device damage story. Please include a first and second choice of the case and color you want

Second, Tweet “@GearDiarySite is giving away Speck cases. I would love…(type) and (color)”

This giveaway will close Sunday at Midnight (ET), and winners will be randomly selected from comments and tweets Monday the 9th.

As always, our thanks to the good folks at Speck for making this giveaway possible.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

My worst device damage story has to be the time when I ruined my 120GB external HDD. At the time it was attached to my PowerBook, and when I heard a tortured, knocking noise from inside the drive I unplugged it in a panic. After trying to get it to mount, I only made things worse by attempting a reformat, erase, everything but research recovery options first. Ergo one bricked drive, lots of lost files.

    1) Speck fitted iPhone case, black & white plaid.
    2) Speck Candy Shell iPhone case, WaxStick White

The worst issue I have had, and have been pretty lucky, is that I have my iMac on my desk at work – had an external CD drive on the desk underneath. Thought I had plenty of room to slide my tablet PC underneath, went to slide it in and somehow caught the “corner” of my iMac (it doesn’t have corners BTW) and have a lovely scratch on the lid of my tablet. Not as bad as a cracked screen or busted chassis, but still annoying nonetheless. Now all of my devices, laptops included, get at least a vinyl overlay (clear or printed) to protect from things like this.
I’ve got skins from both iStyles.com and GelaSkins.com for my MacBook Pro, Dell laptops, iPhone 3GS and BlackBerry Bold.

If I win, I’d love to have the fitted fabric case as I’m a rudeboy at heart, second choice would be the blue candyshell for the iPhone 3GS.

Here goes, a few months back i was trying to use those new Ziploc steamer bags that you put in the microwave ( a microwave is a device right?) followed their instructions and cut up my carrot into slices put the bag same side up etc as i had with other items in the past, i set the timer for about half the recommended time and turned around to finish something else. Then it happened, i started hearing strange noises coming from behind me and when i turned around i saw what appeared to be a strange light show emanating from the microwave area. As i stepped over i was startled to discover my microwave was having an identity crisis and had decided it wanted to be a fireplace, flames were emanating from the Ziploc bag now filled with orange charcoal. I hit the clear button in a panic and the flames went out. Unfortunately the smell did not… Sigh much worse than the foil wrapped pop tart of 2005.

My wife dropped my Treo 700 down a flight of concrete steps and it tumbled and finally split open at the bottom. Arrgh.
    Thanks for the contest.

My tale is an old one. Sometime in the early nineties I had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III hand held LCD game. (http://bit.ly/PvIjU) and I left it on top of the trunk of my Dad’s car. My dad went for pizza. I tried to find that game for like two hours after dinner. I was so annoyed my dad took me out to rent a Nintendo game. The rental store was right next to the pizza place and my game was sitting in the parking lot cracked and totally busted. Cried like a little girl….

    Sigh.

I’d like the 3G case in white or blue if I win.

Worst? You got it! I was with my wife and friends drinking at a bar and when nature called, I answered it at the urinal. Mid-stream, my phone started vibrating. Being drunk and eager, I tried to answer it and dropped it right in my _____. Yup, you guessed it… ruined by #1. The funny thing was… it was my wife that was calling, wondering where I had gone because she didn’t see me in the bar.

I would rock the 3G Purple Pink, or second choice would be WaxStick White (urine-free please)

    :)

Sorry – realized I didn’t specify which fabric case would be my preferred one – I’d like the white plaid, not the black with the thin white dot stripes. Was reading through the comments and evidently lloydrv specified “both” cases as well – I read that first as “yes, I would like the black and white plaid one” (as it has black in it) not, there is a black case and a white plaid case.

Anyhow, hopefully there are enough cases to go around as there are only 8 comments (as of now) and 2 of them are case clarifications ;-)

Worst device damage story — We gave our son an iPod Touch 3g for his 16th birthday! A pretty pricey gift, but since it was for a special birthday, we felt it was worth it. It was beautiful, sleek and in an awesome CandyShell case! He has some hot ear buds too! 4 days later, it was stolen out of his gym locker at school! Talk about being devastated…and mad! A police report was filed. Thanks to some amazing friends with good ears, tips were found and the thief was caught and charged! YAY Justice! BUT, he destroyed the iPod and the beautiful Speck case. Bashed it with a brick to destroy evidence. The thief has to pay to replace the iPod. The case and ear buds are up to us (don't think that is fair, but that is what the teen court system decided). SO, a shiny new Candy Shell for his iPod Touch 3g would be awesome! What a great story to tell if he is chosen the winner!

    First choice – Batwing Black
    Second choice – Waxstick White
