One of the things I absolutely love to do with a mobile device is customize it to meet my needs. As many BlackBerry users know, one of the simplest ways to begin to customize a ‘Berry UI is to use themes. Back in September, Dan did a great job covering BlackBerry themes when he was setting up his new Bold — and last month Wayne showed off a beautiful HTC Hero BlackBerry theme he was using for his device.
Honestly, it is extremely rare that I find a theme that creates any excitement for me — or one that I would take the time to post here on Gear Diary. This week, that changed. I saw an update a few days ago from a BlackBerry guru who goes by the handle “N8D” (if you’re not familiar with N8D, I highly recommend you take a few minutes to view some of his BlackBerry videos — including device disassembly instructions and a very thorough BlackBerry model comparison). So, when N8D commented that the Transitions theme for BlackBerry was “the best theme made for BB E.V.E.R.” I quickly took note. What I found was that it is not only an awesome premium theme for BlackBerry devices, but it may also be the very best theme you can get for a very low price. Interested? Let’s take a closer look and see it in action …
The video above is by the theme’s creator, “The Z Man” — and it really shows off what you can do with the theme. Every application you’ve installed is accessible, and your BlackBerry homescreen will seamlessly switch between four primary areas — messaging, media, settings, and apps. There are hundreds — if not thousands — of themes out there for BlackBerry devices. Some simply change the background wallpaper on the device and maybe add a few custom icons. A few premium themes will implement beautiful animations — at the cost of eating up precious battery life on the device. Most “premium” themes will cost you, on average, $7 bucks a pop — OUCH!. The Transitions theme is only $2.00!
Wait. That’s still not enough to get you interested? OK, remember yesterday when we posted on the new Gear Diary On-Device App Store for BlackBerry? Not only can you download and install the Transitions theme right from your device (or have it sent to you straight from the original web-based GD Software Store, but you can also take an additional 15% off the price by using GDWinterBliss as the coupon code during checkout to bring the price down to $1.70. That’s right — a buck seventy.
At that price you have nothing to lose, and you can update your BlackBerry with one of the best themes currently available.
