Welcome back to the GearGames weekly video game release feature here at Gear Diary! This we get the game claiming to be ‘the most pre-ordered game of all-time (not coincidentally by folks who make money off pre-orders!) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The early word is that this is a fine addition to the franchise for console gamers, offering a similarly short single player campaign, but loads of fun in multiplayer. I say ‘for console gamers’, as the PC version has been ‘stripped for parts’, with the multiplayer neutered, the ability to modify the game in classic PC style removed, and the price increased. Bleh. But for fans of console shooters, this is considered a ‘must have’.
Just about everything else this week is a minor release or a release on one platform of a game that came out for other platforms earlier. Then there are some minor releases like more shovelware from the once respected Harvest Moon series. There are actually plenty of solid releases I haven’t mentioned, so check out the list!

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Dragon Ball: Raging Blast
- Dreamkiller

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Dragon Ball: Raging Blast

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2010
- Harvest Moon: Animal Parade
- NBA 2K10

- Pro Evolution Soccer 2010

- Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble

- Harvest Moon DS: Sunshine Islands
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized
- Dragonology
- Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans
- Phantasy Star Zero

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- WorldShift
- King Arthur – The Role-playing Wargame
Some notes from last week:
- Dragon Age: Origins
- Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
- Lego Rock Band
- Pro-Evolution Soccer 2010
- Band Hero
- An absolutely stunning and truly epic experience!
- Sadly the heroes come off rushed, repetitive and unpolished in this easily skipped PSP release.
- It is an odd mix, but still loads of fun – the core gameplay just plain works.
- If you’re looking for ‘football’ action, head on over to FIFA instead!
- Basically Guitar Hero 5 for bands … but still a solid release.
What games am I playing now? Well, at this point I am STILL saturated with a growing backlog … but here are a couple:
- PC: Dragon Age: Origins – I have spent way too many hours (and way too little sleep) since this unlocked on Steam last week. And it really is a magnificent game.
- PC: Torchlight – a fun little casual RPG from the makers of Fate and Hellgate: London (they’d rather point back to Diablo), this is a blast but might be a bit thin in terms of overall experience.
- PSP: Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron – this didn’t appear on the list last week for some reason, but I grabbed it as soon as it hit the PSN, but honestly it hasn’t gotten much play time yet … looks solid so far.
- PSP: Zombie Tycoon – now I’ve hit the point where this is dominating my PSP time!
So what are you playing? Chime in below!
Enjoy gaming!
