Charlie’s Playhouse is celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species by offering 10 – 20% off their items when you ask your kids to answer one simple question. “What is Evolution?

If you send in a video of your child answering the question, you can get 20% off Charlie’s Playhouse products; if you send in a written answer, you’ll get 10% off. This seems like a question that could get some interesting replies, doesn’t it? And what a simple way to start an educational discussion …

The ground rules are easy enough; without any coaching, just ask your child “What is evolution?

We’re interested in all responses, even “I don’t know.”

No fair coaching the kids beforehand. Tell them about evolution afterwards. Honor system, people!

Kids should be aged four to ten, plus or minus two years.

We welcome entries from anywhere in the world in any language. Just include an English translation if needed.

Only parents or legal guardians can submit a kid’s response and sign the parental release.

Kids will not be identified by name in the video. They will be fully anonymous.

Once we have the parental release, we’ll give you a one-time coupon code for your discount.

Please do submit answers from more than one kid, but only one discount per family, please.

Deadline for entries is Monday, November 16th, 2009.

We asked Kevin’s six year old if she knew what evolution was, and she said “I don’t know.” His 10 year old said, “it’s like a war.” Obviously we need to work with them a little bit, as these are the same girls who have been playing with the Giant Timeline Floormat for about a year!

To send a video of your child, click here. Charlie’s Playhouse will “take all the kids’ answers and mix them into a video to be released on November 24, 2009. [They] may not be able to use every kid’s response in the video, but [they'll] try.”

To send a written answer, click here. For written responses, Charlie’s Playhouse “may ask other kids to read them for a voice-over (not on camera.)”
