They need a computer to help with educational software as well as watching movies from the iTunes library in the house. Like some of the other folks, I would also be inclined to give an iPhone 3GS. I've already give 2 iPhones and the changes I've seen in those I've given them to has been amazing. I've seen people who weren't comfortable with technology blossom and embrace technology. Apps, web browsing, texting, email all seem somehow more accessible and manageable on this device.
