Video: Mimo Monitor Unboxing and Set Up

Posted on 19 November 2009 by

Just last night, while browsing in my local Apple reseller, I stumbled upon one of those products that made me stand up go WOW!

Allistair has one of these in his cue for review.

The Mimo line of 7″ USB powered monitors were on display at the new store.  As soon as I cast eyes on one I knew I’d be taking one home.

Check out my un-boxing and initial thoughts on this little gem of a device and look for Allistair‘s review soon.

I’ve been really interested in the touch screen version; I think it would make a nice portable second monitor for my Tablet PC. My biggest complaint, other than the high price, is that it may actually be too small to be useful. I’d love to see a 10-12″ version.

Watching your video, does the Mac really not have a way to automatically size a window to the monitor? Like double-clicking on the title bar, as all versions of Windows do, or just dragging the title bar to the top of the monitor, as Windows 7 does.

    1. They’re coming out with a touch screen version of the model I bought and it’s under $200.

    2. Turns out there is. Just hitting the + sign in the upper left corner of the window auto-resizes it. Didn’t learn that until after I’d done the video.
