When it comes to video cameras, some of us here at GD are old enough to remember when they were practically the size of shoulder-mount 3/4″ tape video cameras.

(Well, some of us are old enough to remember movie film cameras that you had to wind up with a key, but I digress.)
But we are in the 32-Gigabites-in-your-phone era, and so digital video cameras have been shrinking and shrinking. While they’re not quite the size of hiding them in your shirt-buttons yet, Brickhouse Security has taken the idea a long way in that direction with their new Mega Mini Spy Camera Ultra.

This little baby has an SD card slot that provides you with up to 16 GB of storage, records 640 x 480 Real-Time 30 FPS Video, a pair of rechargeable batteries, and can record either manually or in voice-activation mode. (It can also double as an audio recorder.) The retail price on this baby is $300, but right now is being offered by BrickHouse for 1/3 off at $199.
The new Mega Mini Spy Camera Ultra is less than half the size of the Flip Video, the Creative Vado, and other similar budget camcorders, making it a truly pocketable camcorder. The Mega Mini Ultra is also available in a choice of 9 colors (coming soon) including pink, red, silver, white, yellow, lime, blue, orange and black. The camera records 30fps video at 640×480 resolution on to an included 2GB microSD card, and it can be expanded up to 16GB. The Mega Mini Spy Camera Ultra also offers several other useful functions – it doubles as a web camera and an audio recorder. The black and silver versions are available now for $199.

Why shouldn’t I just buy a Flip HD? It’s not like you’re going to be able to conceal this somewhere where the Flip won’t fit. The Flip records in HD, has a screen, which I presume this doesn’t. I;m just being logical. If I want to spy on someone I would just get something like this spy watch (http://www.brickhousesecurity......watch.html) which indeed offers something the Flip doesn’t.

The Brickhouse mini cam is cool, but so obviously a camera. How about a spy camera pen instead for about $100? http://su.pr/2gqFTW
