This weekend I had the chance to do one of the best, geekiest things I have done in a long time: I went to see “Star Wars in Concert”!

Yes, you read that right…a full symphony orchestra plays some of the best parts of the soundtrack live, while HD screens play clips from the movies. Best of all, it is hosted by Anthony Daniels, AKA C-3PO!

I am a big fan of the original trilogy, and it was amazing to see some of my favorite scenes in 3D, and to feel the vibration of the orchestra as the music swelled. While I was not a fan of the prequel trilogy, it was actually almost enjoyable in edited clips. The overall “plot” of the concert basically takes you through the principal storylines and characters using clips from all 6 movies, so only the key bits were used from the prequels. Surprisingly, when edited down to about 45 minutes of total footage, those movies are tolerable!

Still, nothing beat seeing the original Star Wars of my youth in high definition glory. It was incredibly geeky, but also breathtaking and very well done. The only downside, and this just proves how much of a nerd I am: in the clip that was used, Greedo shot first. Blasphemy!

Check here to see if Star Wars in Concert is coming to your area this holiday season!
