I recently reviewed the SmartSwipe, a neat little gizmo that lets you shop online securely. Sure it is only for PCs right now but if you do use a PS, SmartSwipe will let you make a purchase without having to numerically key in your credit card number.

As the company explains-

SmartSwipe is the new, smarter, more secure way to shop online. The SmartSwipe (by NetSecure Technologies) is the world’s first truly secure personal credit card reader. When you install SmartSwipe, you can swipe your credit card at your home or office computer just like you would in a store. Plug the SmartSwipe into your computer’s USB port, go shopping to your favourite online stores and swipe your credit card – it is that easy. The best part is that you know your credit card information is safe and secure.

Well, we are giving the review unit away this Thursday. To enter the giveaway just leave a comment telling us the most unusual thing you have ever bought online. We’ll announce the winner on Friday, November 27th.

The SmartSwipe has an MSRP of $79.95. Details can be found HERE.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

I guess it would have to be Roma, my little tomato-red Smart Cabrio. We saw them all over Italy during the summer of `07 and figured, well heck, if 1 out of every 10 folks in Tuscany drives one, they can’t be total pieces of junk.

We came home, ordered it up online, paid the deposit with a credit card and waited 14 months for our little baby to ripen. It was an utter leap of faith to buy a car over the internet without even having a dealer announced in the state yet, but a year after making the last payment with my Visa and picking it up in Knoxville we still love our head-turner.

It’s not zippy, but at least it’s paid for.

The weirdest thing I ever bought online was a fake Xbox 360. When the Xbox 360 first came out, I couldn’t find it in stores anywhere, so I resorted to eBay. Unfortunately, the system I bid on was being sold by a scammer, so I ended up with the Xbox 360 box, an extension cord, and a Styrofoam block with XBOX 360 scribbled in green marker.

Warning: The weirdest thing I ever bought online is potentially NSFW so stop now if you are easily offended.

A Fleshlight clear insert and case. In the spirit of sharing TMI, it came with a complimentary tube of lube.

There Gear Diary, my weirdest purchase. *Slinks away in shame* ;-)

The weirdest thing I bought on-line was a neck stretcher!

I get migraines and this was supposed to stretch the muscles in your neck to relieve the pain, but it really just turned me into a pencil neck geek :)

At least now I’m taller than my twin brother!

I do not have any good things to add to this weirdest list. However, one time I did receive the wrong order and my wife wondered what the heck I was doing, and why I would have it delivered to the house. Instead of receiving the cloths that I ordered, I received a package of lingerie, of course it was not my wifes size.
