So, you just upgraded your Windows Mobile device to Windows Mobile 6.5, only to realize that you are running into some registration issues because you couldn’t find the ‘Owner Information’.

There are some Windows Phones, such as the HTC Touch Pro 2, that doesn’t show the ‘Owner Information’ in the Settings menu. Luckily, with some registry tweaks, you no longer have to worry about not being able to enter your information.

Method 1:

Using your favorite registry editor:

  1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Owner
  2. Create a new DWord name “Hide” (without the quotes) and set its value to 0. If you already have this, change the value from 1 to 0.
  3. Soft reset.

Method 2:

If you don’t like playing with the registry:

  1. Go into Today settings, Items tab
  2. Enable “Owner Info” while disabling others and tap OK.
  3. Enter the Owner Info via the Today screen.
  4. After you’re done, adjust back your Today settings accordingly.

A Special Note For HD2 Owners:

Paul from Modaco has told us that the HTC HD2 apparently uses the name from your contact card to set Owner ID, but if you would like to restore the normal owner info settings, you can install the attached CAB and reboot.

I hope this resolves your issues with ‘Owner Information’. :)
