A Gear Diary Thanksgiving from Gear Diary on Vimeo.
Today is all about stopping the rush, stepping back, looking at life a bit more clearly and being thankful for the things that matter. Sure, those are things we should try to do all the time but… too often… the rush of life gets in the way. So today we stop. We stop work. We stop posting. We stop.
And we give thanks. Thanks for all of you. Thanks for the chance to write for this awesome site. Thanks for Judie who makes the rest of us really love being part of Gear Diary. And thanks for the awesome team she has collected since that is one of the best things for the rest of us.
We all wanted to hear what the others were thankful for so we were asked to
“Share three things for which we are thankful-
1. One personal
2. One Tech-related
3. One “wild-card” of your choice.
(In addition everyone was asked
“Please-
Do not list four.
Do not list two. Please list THREE items.”
I’m thankful everyone listened.
Joel McLaughlin
1. One personal
Thankful for my wonderful family who can surprise even me in hard times.
2. One Tech-related
Thankful for all of the Open Source developers who put their hard work into the Linux Kernel and all of the applications I use on a daily basis.
3. One “wild-card” of your choice.
Thankful for the team here at Gear Diary. While we may all be very opinionated and different individuals, we do come together when we need to. Thanks Judie for making this possible!

Perry Reed
1. One personal
I’m thankful for the love of my family, especially my kids who are the best part of my life (even when they’re acting up).
2. One Tech-related
I’m thankful that we live in such a connected world, where more knowledge than we could ever consume is waiting at our fingertips for us to discover.
3. One “wild-card” of your choice.
I’m thankful that, despite all of the daily troubles we may have at home or at work; despite concern about our communities, our economies, our countries; that the sun still comes up each morning regardless of our actions, and beautiful life goes on all around us.

Doug Moran
1. A full-time job with a good boss. Huzzah!
2. My iPhone. I commute back and forth between Austin and the S.F. Bay Area, and life would suck even more without my little technological friend.
3. I’m thankful–and I’m dead serious here–for Judie giving me another chance at being a Gear Diary writer. Thanks, Judie!

Carly Z
1) I am incredibly grateful for my fiancee, our supportive and loving families, and our stinky, lovable dog.
2) I am thankful we live in a world where technology and innovation make our lives longer and more fulfilling. Also, for indoor plumbing. I would not have done well 100 years ago.
3) I am super thankful that I get to be part of the best website, with the best team on the intertubes!

Travis Ehrlich
1. One personal
I am thankful for a wonderful wife and two amazing children that are understanding that my work keeps me away most of the time and always are at my games to cheer and support.
2. One Tech-related
I am thankful for my friends at Gear Diary and the ability to have a group to be a geek with and gain knowledge about the tech world.
3. Wild Card
I am thankful to have the opportunity for a successful coaching career. I am blessed with amazing athletes, administration and community.

Amy Zunk
1. One personal
I am thankful for my family. They may make me crazy and want to scream, but they are mine and I love them very very much.
2. One Tech-related
I am thankful for my Blackberry 8900. Why? Because without it I would be lost all the time, not know my schedule, not be able to communicate with anyone and basically forget everything in my life.
3. Wild Card
My fiancĂ©e Harris. I don’t know if I would have made it this last year without his support, his humor…and his cooking.

Michael Anderson
1. One personal
I am so thankful for my wonderful family. I am blessed with a beautiful wife who I have been with for almost 20 years and I love more each day. I have two wonderful kids who I enjoy thoroughly and who teach me more about myself and the world every day.
2. One Tech-related
I am thankful for the continued blurring of online and offline technology and for the omnipresence of connectability combined with improved usability that makes it easy for just about anyone to connect and get themselves involved in the world community. I am also thankful for the widespread competition that encourages everyone to constantly improve their products.
3. One “wild-card” of your choice.
I am thankful that as another year comes to a close that my online community of friends has grown – this year I have been thrilled to join the great crew at Gear Diary, also to maintain connections with so many of my age-old ‘net connections, particularly my great friendship with the far-flung group at RPGWatch. Also, I am thrilled to have re-connected with several friends, all of whom I have not had contact with for at least 20 years, and some close to 30!

Jessica Fritsche
1. One personal
I am so thankful for my wonderful husband Shawn and our crazy kitties. I love knowing that when I leave a long day at the office, I have our cozy little family to go home to. I feel incredibly lucky to be married to such a loving, kind, funny, intelligent guy.
2. One tech-related
I am thankful for my iPhone, which keeps me connected, entertained, and informed no matter where I am.
3. One “wild-card” of your choice
I am thankful for the many friendships I have cultivated, both offline and online. It has been a tough year for many of us, and I marvel at the strength and depth of character in the people in my life.

Dan Cohen
1. One personal
I’m thankful for community- both local and virtual- and the way in which the two are increasingly merged into one.
2. One Tech-related
I’m happy for so much new technology and the way it makes it let’s you overcome many of life’s day to day challenges in ways we could not have imagined just a few years ago.
3. One “wild-card” of your choice
I’m thankful for the many people who make it possible for me to do what I do for my vocation.
I’m thankful for all of you who make it possible for me to do what I do for my avocation.

Larry Greenberg
1. One personal
I am thankful for for my family’s unconditional love and support.
2. One Tech-related
I am thankful for George Hotz, aka Geohot, for making an iPhone jail-breaking tool (blackra1n) that’s so easy to use a caveman could do it. I enjoy the iPhone in its out of the box configuration but I love it jail-broken.
3. One “wild-card” of your choice
I am thankful for my fellow brothers. I rest easy knowing they always have my back no matter what the situation. I know if something goes wrong we’ll get home together one way or the other.

Judie Lipsett
1. One personal
I’m thankful for my family – immediate and extended, and the fact that it just continues to grow. Life is a twisty roll-coaster that’s loaded with surprises, and I am thoroughly enjoying the ride.
2. One Tech-related
I’m thankful for my Gear Diary family, and the fact that we are so connected to each other on so many levels. These are truly some of the most wonderful, giving, and friendly people I have ever known!
3. One “wild-card” of your choice
I’m thankful to YOU for making us a part of YOUR day, and for caring enough about us all — and what we have to say — to continue coming back for more. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again.
From our virtual home to your brick and mortar home, we hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
