Play Classic Atari Games Online at the New Atari.com!

While I was rather critical of the Commodore 64 iPhone App, that doesn’t mean I’ve given up my continuing quest to replay classic arcade games! Today we get word that Atari.com has a new site dedicated to their classic arcade games, and that you can actually play many of those games online! The games include many for the Atari 2600 as well as loads of coin-op arcade classics, including Asteroids, BattleZone, Lunar Lander, Yar’s Revenge and more! More games are promised to arrive soon, so we can only hope and wait for other classics like Dig Dug and Tempest to arrive. Head on over to Atari Arcade and check them all out for yourself – they are fully functional and are completely free to play!

I loved my 2600 and as an adult, I’ve collected quite a number of the old consoles and games for both the Atari and Intellivision. But my favorite games have never changed. On the 2600 it has always been Activision Star Master (a clone of my all-time favorite video game on any system: Star Raiders on the Atari 800), and Adventure.
I was never a real big arcade game player, but my favorites there were Galaga and Joust.
