Bad news if you were hoping to stalk your local Barnes and Noble for a nook this morning: the Wall Street Journal is reporting that B&N is not shipping units to stores until December 7th. Apparently pre-order demand was so strong they have nothing available to ship to the stores.
With this on the heels of Sony being unable to guarantee pre-Christmas delivery on the Sony Reader Daily Edition, it is obvious that dedicated eBook readers are a hot item this year. And now that Amazon seems to have stabilized their Kindle supplies, they may be the only ones with anything in stock this holiday season!

In store Nook’s will be ESSENTIAL to grabbing the luddites. These are the ones B&N should target. These are the people who have no idea what it would be like to carry a device like this. They assume a Kindle or Nook would be like reading on a computer screen and it’s not the same experience.

Joel-I am sure b&n is not happy about this…but they are scrambling to fill preorders. Clearly they did not expect nearly the level of demand they are seeing…
