As 2009 starts to wind down, prepare for the onslaught of ‘Top X of the Decade’ lists. Today we get the ‘Top 10 Gadgets of the Decade’ from ABC News. The list includes the iPod, eBook readers, iPhone, and more. Read on for more info!

Here is their reasoning for the Nintendo Wii:

When Nintendo launched the Wii and Wii Sports in 2006, it pulled gamers off the couch and into the action, revolutionizing video game play in the process.

Using a wireless controller, players actually simulate actions such as playing tennis, baseball and boxing.

But the game has had successes beyond gaming, including teaching school children music and helping people lose weight.

For me, the most interesting thing is the perspective: in 1999 cell phones were not ubiquitous yet, GPS was for air traffic and military, anyone playing MP3′s was doing so on a PDA or rudimentary player – and the same is true for ebooks, and so on. Technology has certainly brought us a long way in the last decade! I can’t say that I absolutely agree with everything on the list, but I never do! Perhaps my only disagreement would be with the netbook: a decade ago I was using a Toshiba Portege that is hardly bigger than my Lenovo S10 netbook (I know because I still have it!) … but I will cede that the combination of size AND price has been a real game changer.

What about you? How has technology changed your life in the 2000′s? What do you want to see in the next decade? Chime in below on the comments!

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
