It’s that time of year.  The time where we”re all looking ahead to enjoying more holidays, spending time with family, and — hopefully — a chance to recharge and gear up for a new year filled with opportunity.  In the rush of trying to get ready for the last few weeks of 2009, you may have missed some of our recent posts.  Well, that’s OK because we’re here to give you a roundup of some of the items you may have missed.

If you’re preparing to take some time for a vacation, like Dan recently did (even though he still posted like crazy!), you may want to check out some of the gear Dan likes to use, like a Kindle, when he takes a little R&R.  In fact, you can even get an idea of what gear the entire team uses — and let us know what YOU use as well.  While you’re at it, don’t forget to let us know what your own “Gateway Gadget” was to get you interested in technology.

So sit back, grab another  cup of coffee and take a look at a few of last weeks highlights with the Gear Diary team.

Congratulations on a Great Season!  Coach Ehrlich and The Fall City Beavers…

Gear Diary’s own guitar-wielding iPhone aficianado, Coach Travis Ehrlich, helped lead the Fall City Beavers football team to the Texas State Quarter Finals!  The team barely lost out to their rivals, the Ganado Indians, on  Saturday.  Congratulations to The Coach and Fall City Beavers for an outstanding season!

The team discussed their iPhone OS wishlist beyond 3.1.    What features are you wanting to see implemented on the iPhone?  While we’re discussing the game changer, let’s not forget Larry’s update on video calling for the iPhone; or the nifty shopping apps that Jeff and Larry showed off to get your holiday shopping wrapped up (pun intended ;) ).

If you really want to take your iPhone to the next level, be sure to check out Dan’s camera app series from last week.  You can find part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4 and start showing off your own creativity with photos taken straight from your iPhone.  While you’re at it, don’t forget to converge your iPhone and GPS with CoPilot Live, which is only $24.99 through the end of December!

Larry’s struggling with an issue many parents are working through this season with their children, and that’s how young is too young for a cell phone? Sound off in the post comments on how you’re dealing with this technology  trend.

Amy let us know that YouTube has given some love to those of us who may not have blazing-fast broadband speeds 24/7 with the release of YouTube Feather.

A Featherized YouTube page changes the parameters on the video player, as well as on the page itself  A Feather-ized page makes the video player default to standard quality, only 10 comments are shown, and sharing and embedding options are gone. Some other standard features are removed as well all for the sake of saving bandwidth and space.”

New Android devices have been spotted, along with a batch of winners in the Developer Challenge, making good on the promise to make 2010 a hefty Android invasion for technology and smartphone fans.

As the eBook wars heat up with the highly anticipated Barnes & Noble Nook going against Amazon’s Kindle this holiday season, don’t forget to keep up with Carly’s State of The eBook series.  Carly will continue her reign as resident queen of the eBooks, and as a newly-crowned editor of Gear Diary, to bring you the very best in news and commentary for our literary fans.

We’re not leaving Windows Mobile fans out in the cold.  Be sure to make Allistair Lee’s weekly Windows Mobile roundup a part of your tech favorites, as he spotlights the latest apps and updates for the WinMo platform.   A few of last week’s highlights that Allistair touched on included the FindMyCar app and the release of Google Maps 3.3 for Windows Phone.

Let’s not forget to take time to enjoy some games this season…

Our resident gaming expert, Michael Anderson, continues to provide the latest and greatest news and reviews for even the most hardcore gamers.   This past week Michael took a look at the Battle for Wesnoth for iPhone OS and the classic Avernum series for PC/Mac.  You can also catch Michael’s weekly summary of the very best in gaming with his Gear Games series.

Keep coming back to Gear Diary for the latest in updates from the team!
