While you are busy stalking UPS for your nook, or cursing yourself for not pre-ordering one, why not take some much needed break time to read some actual reviews of the device? C|Net and Engadget have their reviews up; what did they think?

C|Net was more positive on the nook than Engadget:

“As with any new platform, the Nook still has some kinks to work out and will require its fair share of tweaks and firmware upgrades to really shine. But we have no problem recommending it as a worthy alternative to the current-generation Kindle.

Engadget was a bit harsher on the device, though they seemed to like it overall:

“In the end, the Nook is an intriguing product launched by a powerful force in the world of booksellers, but the initial offering feels long on promises and short on delivery. With the right software revisions, the Nook could be a tsunami, but as it stands right now, it’s only a mild swell.”

Both of the full reviews give you a nice tour of the device and rundown of the features, so be sure to check them both out!

And if you’re kicking yourself for not pre-ordering, AND you’ve got loads of extra cash around, hit up eBay. It will only cost you ~$400 for your nook! Or just wait until January 15th rolls around…if you can!

  1. Glad to see it getting some good press. I am intrigued, but am hoping for the 'price war of 2010' to reward my patience ;)
