Its been a VERY, VERY busy week for Google, and the week isn’t even over yet.  There is so much going on with our favorite Internet search giant these days.  Announcement have been pouring in almost daily.

We here at Gear Diary want to make it easy for you, so here is all the Google news that is fit to print for the week of December 7-11, 2009:

  • Google held a large press event yesterday to go over their new directions in search and other new products and services.
  • Google updated their Google Finance product this week by adding financial news stories into the mix.  The stories update every minute of two, as well as stream to the site.  However, the streaming will only happen between 8am and 5:30PM EST.
  • Google Analytics also got an update this week.  The service that allows website owners and publishers to get detailed statistics about the number, whereabouts and search behavior of their visitors got more customizable.  The biggest feature is the ability to add notes to charts and other areas of the analytics.
  • Google has updated their search capabilities by adding a real-time search function that integrates live updates from blogs, news sites, Twitter, Facebook, and more.
  • Google Goggles is a new application that takes advantage of Google’s search capabilities and your Android phone’s camera.  The idea is simple: Point, Click, Shoot, Search.
  • Offline Gmail is now a fully integrated feature in Gmail, not just a Google Lab.  It can be managed in the settings of Gmail.
  • Google ran out of its holiday postcards in four days.  I guess everyone wanted Google’s Christmas spirit this year.
  • Eric Schmidt, Google CEO, finally caved in and is now on Twitter. Originally the Google CEO stated that Twitter was “sort of poor man’s email systems.”  Guess its not poor afterall?
  • Still want that Google Wave invite?  While we at Gear Diary are running our own Google Wave invite give away, Google themselves have opened up the invite gates to whomever wants one.   They have sent over 1 million invites so far.  Not to shabby for a service people are still trying to understand how to use.
  • Are you using the Scan application on your Android phone, iPhone, Blackberry or WinMo phone?  Well, now there is something more to use that app for then just getting applications.  Google has just sent out 100,000 scan decals to most searched for businesses in the US and sent each of them scannable window decals.  The idea is folks doing some window shopping can scan the decal and then look on the business’ web site to find coupons, etc.
  • Google Picassa has entered a deal with the makers of the Eye-Fi to offer a free 4 GB Eye-Fi Home Video wireless SD card with the purchase of cloud storage space.

Whew!  And its only Tuesday.  Keep checking back to see what else unfolds in the saga that is Google.
