OK, folks, I really didn’t see this coming! Bioware and Transgaming (makers of the Cider translation engine used by so many PC to Mac ports) have just announced they are bringing the mega-hit and already winner of many GotY (Game of the Year) awards to the Mac on December 21st!
I saw it in a Tweet from Direct2Drive about the ability to pre-order, and re-read a few times until I was sure … then did a quick Google search and saw some others sources announcing it as well!
A few caveats:
This game is already available for pre-order on Direct2Drive, and other sites will likely soon follow. Typically retail is pretty slow on Mac games, so if you want to play over the holiday break from school or work, Digital Download might be your only chance.
The Transgaming Cider engine typically degrades performance *slightly*, meaning that if you are playing on a Macbook or older Macbook Pro using Bootcamp and struggling now, it will only get worse with this version.Mac gamers, rejoice! We have missed out on so many great games, that getting this awesome release so soon after the initial version is just stunning. And just for my own personal view – this game is good enough that I’m going to spend another $65 so I can have it on my Mac as well as PC!
I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
