A new milestone has been hit by the Android Market.  Five months ago, there were only 10,000 applications available.  Well, as of today, its now 20,000. Not too shabby for only five months of development!  According to Androlib, a web site that has been keeping tabs on the publication of all free and paid apps since Android was introduced, the number of apps hit the milestone earlier today and shows no sign of slowing.

Androlib has provided a chart on the growth of applications, paid and free, in the Android Market:

This just shows that Android is here to stay.  Its beginning to pick up speed.  Between the runway hit of the Motorola DROID and now this, it will be fun to see where these number go over the next year.  Will it catch up to the 100,ooo+ of the iPhone App Store?

Thanks MobileCrunch for the news.
