Last week Nuance released Dragon Dictation. Now they have just released a brand new app, Dragon Search. Dragon Search is

intuitive voice-enabled search app for iPhone gives users a smarter way to search. Dragon Search is an advanced form of Nuance’s world-renowned Dragon NaturallySpeaking software, optimized to service millions of speakers’ simultaneous open-ended search queries, regardless of whether they are first-time or experienced voice application users.

The app displays results from a variety of sources including Google, Yahoo!, Bing, iTunes, Twitter, Wiki, and YouTube. The results come in a format that allows you to flick through images of thefor  a limited time it is free! I just downloaded it and can tell you that… it is awesome! There are some issues with proper names (for example Gear Diary, which is always rendered as “Dear Diary”), but the more I used it the more accurate the app seemed to be.

(Can you say “Bye bye Google search app!”??? I knew you could…)

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
