To the surprise of almost no one, ad revenue has taken a downturn with the rest of the world economy. The bright spot is in internet ads; sadly, this means those awful ads that start playing video the second you visit a webpage or accidentally mouse over them won’t be going away anytime soon.

This also means Google, the king of internet ads, is that much closer to taking over the world.

Do you use an ad blocker? Or do you just accept that advertising is the trade off for browsing the interwebs? Share below!

Carly has been a gadget fiend for a long time, going back to her first PDA (a Palm M100). She quickly went from researching what PDA to buy to following tech news closely and keeping up with the latest and greatest stuff. She loves writing about ebooks because they combine her two favorite activities; reading anything and everything, and talking about fun new tech toys. What could be better?

I use ad blocker heavily, only permitting very few sites I try to specifically support … like Gear Diary, for example :)

LOL that's the very reason I never use an ad blocker, Michael — I want to support the sites that I actually visit. But I will still consider using an ad blocker when a site has pop-up, pop-under, or gateway (click to continue on to the site) ads. Those are the ones that bother me most. :-P

I do find myself clicking obviously targeted ads, however. Sometimes they really do have products that I want to learn more about. :-)
