December: Enter Gear Diary’s Grand Prize Holiday Giveaway!!! Of course this would be my favorite December post! Giveaways are awesome.
OK, if you *MUST* know, here they are: (goes digging into the Google Reader archive)
1. January: HTC Touch HD = Stands for Hot Damn!
Why? I've always liked Mitchel's posts. He's never afraid to say what's on his mind and it was great seeing an E71 avid user's (which I still am personally) opinion on the Touch HD.
Close runner up: Most Amazing Blackberry Curve cake design ever (we love gadgets, but when it's cake-shaped gadgets, it's ridiculously mouth-watering).
2. February: Shock Pen – Good for laughs so long as you're not wearing a pacemaker. Why? Wayne's sense of humor is refreshing on the site, and his closing line with Alternate Use just killed me when I read it
3. March: The Nokia N85's Killer App. Why? I absolutely love the FM transmitter on the new Nokia devices and use it regularly in my car. Seeing it mentioned and given the importance of one full article on Gear Diary was amazing. Agreed to the teeth.
Close runner up: 50000 pound tractor meets Blackberry 8830. Blackberry wins. Why? Apart from the killer title, Wayne's “Moral of the story? Don’t BlackBerry and Blackjack” is a quote to be remembered and probably instituted as a proverb someday
4. April: Review: Spb Mobile Shell 3. Why? It's been a while since I've used a WinMo phone, but I remember dearly how much I loved Spb Mobile Shell when I did have one. Doug's review gave me an idea on how much customization I'm missing on since giving up on WinMo. Spb are sheer geniuses!
Close runner-up: A writer's opinion on the Kindle, where Joel puts down some of the thoughts that I've been having myself regarding ebooks and digital publishing.
5. May: Review: Nextar Ribbit. Why? Apart from the adorable pics of Joel's son, it amazes me how tech gadgets that used to be so high-end and reserved for geeks are now available for cheap and in children formats… because our kids too deserve to be geeks like us
6. June: RIP iPhone Workaround Apps. Why? Because it was 'bout frigging time, that's why!
7. July: Wall Street Journal Profiles iPhone Hacker. Why? I never knew the kid was 15! Ridiculous. And to know the entire iPhone community was waiting for a 15-yr old to jailbreak the iPhone/iPod Touch, makes me raise my eyebrows in owe to the next generation.
8. August: Mac Bundle Box is at it again – 12 applications for $49. Why? I'm a Macbook user. Need I say more? Ok well, DaisyDisk and Exces alone cost 49$ and are some of the utilities I use regularly. Totally worth it and thanks for telling us about it.
9. September: Sometimes a good post title says it all, take CNet's for example. Why? Because it's great when you write a good post, but it's absolutely fantastic when you recognize a good article written by someone else.
Close runner up: iPod Touch Gen 3 First Look. Why? Simply put, you convinced me. I ended up owning and enjoying one.
10. October: Forget the car, fly to work. Why? Because I've been dreaming about personal plane/boat/car transformer vehicles since I was 10 yrs old, and this is a step in the right direction. Some day they'll be affordable to everyone, much like the mp3 players that are now designed for kids.
11. Internet Immortality. Why? I do google myself very often to see what can others find about me if they search for my name. I have one of the most frequent female names in my country, Lebanon, and therefore trying to steal the top 1 search result was difficult, but eventually I achieved it and almost filled all top 10 results. Ego, I know. But I'm also immortal now
Close runner ups: The iPhone Comes Home (the mom story at the end is fascinating), and Skooba Netbook Messenger – Review (always loved their design).
12. Larry Greenberg Unboxes… Aprils Fool on December 16th. Why? Oh come on! That was a classic. It's the type of post with a tongue-in-cheek twist that I can only find here. It's not everywhere that you find great pranks between co-workers. Just goes to show how human and how good of a team you are. Plus, Larry's “hold on honey” to his girl when she wants to see the MJ case is hysterical. He's so excited about them he can't even share with his daughter.
Ugh, that was probably one of the hardest contests I ever tried to enter. Next time, have us retweet the link or something
January: Donkey dispenses cigarettes in a way that will make you want to quit
Ok, who DOESN'T want their cigarettes from a donkey's butt???
February: An HP Mini Note Webcam Fix On the Way?
<Prying bezel apart & rooting in with tweezers – GOTCHA> And, now I can actually USE the webcam on my Mini!
March: 10 Facebook tips worth reading
Gotta love FB tips – especially how to keep the chat in the sidebar!
April: Review – Livescribe Pulse Smartpen
Oh – the coveting began here – took me til a few days ago to bite the bullet and get one. If you're like me, and just weren't sure it would REALLY be useful, trust me it WILL become instantly one of your most important gear items!
May: Probably Fake (but funny) Houston Airport Homeland Security Urinal Monitor sticker
I admit it – I occasionally like potty humor….LOL
June: Way too efficient! The MiLi Pro iPhone LCOS Micro Video Projector
Seems really cool, and I really want one, but $400 is just too much for me to be able to pull the trigger – still fun to drool over
July: Need another reason to Jailbreak?
Um, nope – but LOVE BiteSMS
August: Act Fast: SCOTTeVest Travel TEC Shirt 50% Off Today Only!
Awesome deal – jumped over as soon as this popped up on my RSS Reader and bought a few!
September: Dear Gossip Mongers Who Don’t Bother To Fact Check…
'Nuff said!
October: Pet bunk bed would be great item for crazy cat lady line of home furnishings
My cats are SOO disappointed, still. All four of them. Wayne you just crushed them – they love to climb and scratch on wood. They rubbed their widdle kitteh heads on my shiny 24″ HD monitor when they saw the picture on the screen, BUT – I just can't cross over the “crazy cat lady” line, so they've just had to go without…poor bunk bed deprived kitties…
November: CoPilot Live Just $19.99 This Weekend
My 5 month old $350 Garmin Nuvi 765T succumbed to a firmware issue and died. It was send back for repairs, and I can't find my way to the grocery store without GPS – I snapped this up and it works pretty well. Of course, I had a brand new Magellan that I got to give as a gift, sitting wrapped up to give as a gift. I debated soooo much about using it and finding another gift, but decided I could tough it out. We gave it tonight, only to find out the person we gave it to had one already, so we have to take it back. Irony anyone?
December: Online Dating: Happily Ever After?
How could I NOT choose a post that has my wedding picture in it…
Best of the ENTIRE year: Could your hard drive survive this? If it’s an ioSafe, yep.
Hands down, the ALL TIME COOLEST (maybe hottest, but you know what I mean…) review EVER done anywhere, by anyone of any tech product, IMHO
January: “Donkey dispenses cigarettes in a way that will make you want to quit”
Seriously, how did this video not go viral? It's soo stupid, yet hilarious. Somehow this beats out a lot of USEFUL articles, runner-up is the Nokia gun case, hahaha.
February: “The Amazing Hubble Space Telescope in Action”
I seriously love everything about Hubble space pictures. To me, this is the neatest(scientific term) piece of technology ever invented, next to the string bikini.
March: “Beejive IM for iPhone gets upgrade for Facebook instant messaging”
With seemingly most of my friends ditching AIM for FB chat, this was a neat update. Sadly, I didn't have an iPhone yet but the update back in March actually made the value of the app… Well that and the later-to-come push notifications.
April: “Speck Candy Shell Case for iPhone 3G”
A fantastic review for a fantastic iPhone case!
May: “Buying a Palm Pre – forget about using your existing micro-USB chargers”
At the time I was drooling over the Pre, this made me gag and then drool a bit more. Fantastic piece of technology here.
June: “iPhone 3G S Dissected: 833 MHz Processor, 720p Video Recording Capable”
One, just because it's neat to know what's in your device without having to dissect it yourself. Two because people STILL reference the article.
July: “You Want Fries With That? Tasty Accessories For… iPhone 3GS”
Nothing better than looking at accessories for the device you already have. Larry didn't help much with the cases, haha. BUT that's what his youtube channel is for.
August: “Go ahead and FaceYourManga”
Really, this is just because I was curious where people were making these things!
September: “Essence of Infiniti”
Even as a petrolhead as I am, the Infiniti Essence concept vehicle slipped past my radar. What a beautiful car.
October: “Review: Sleek Audio SA1, an Altogether Different Audio Experience”
Simply fantastic review, I only wish I could afford them.
November: “Groundbreaking New iPhone Application – And We Have A Sneak Peek”
Dragon Dictation, I was excited to hear about it and I downloaded the app as soon as I saw it was available.. from Gear Diary's twitter feed! For this article and the update on when it was available for download, I thank you a lot.
December: “Dragon Search App JUST Released in the iTunes App Store”
This was the best app recommendation I have gotten to date.
January
Nokia phone case guaranteed to keep thieves at bay
Always concerned about the ne're-do-wells while I'm on my way to the dark parking lot after shopping or going for a jog on the trail this gun shaped cell phone will make me feel safe and scare away the bad guys
February
Quik Pod extends your hand for easy photographic self admiration
The Quik Pod is handle you attach to your camera to pictures of yourself. I just think it’s funny and I personally would be embarrassed to use it. It’s kind of a good idea though.
March
Asus Eee-Easter Mystery Giveaway April 1st thru the 12th
I like this article because I entered the contest and had a video showing the winner being chosen. In one of the contests they threw a dart at a corkboard with all the names on pieces of paper…mine was the name NEXT to the winner.
April
Are YOU addicted to Facebook?
I hate to admit that I am one of the addicted ones. At least I am not alone. I am ready for a support group!
May
Heart shaped ceramic chocolate cake is 3-port USB 2.0 hub
I have a thing for yummy food, even if it’s not real. It’s a cute item.
June
iPhone cufflinks complement your Apple collection
Since I love tiny things I thought the cufflinks were really fun. If my husband wore cufflinks I would have bought them for him.
July
HP and Microsoft’s Back to School and Better Together Giveaway
Once again I entered the contests but did not win. I had fun trying though
August
“Have a Coke and a…..” telephone call?
I love cute gadgets so this article introduced me to another web store that sell the stuff I like.
September
EU seeks to limit Mp3 player volume
When my kids get older (which will be soon) they will start listening to music through ear phones and I worry that they will play music too loud. I don’t want them to lose some hearing at a young age.
October
The Brickhouse Security Invisible Bluetooth Earpiece with SOS Button
I love this product. This would have been great when my friend wanted me to see her blind date at a pizza place at lunch time. She was trying to signal me to see what I thought. This would have been much better.
November
AMD Anniversary Contest – 10 360s and 10 Wiis
Really hoping to win one of these. I guess I’m a contest junkie.
December

I have been trying to follow all of the new ebook readers to see if there one that’s right for me. There are a lot to chose from…I think I’ll keep using my Palm m500 until I make a decision!

Jan 2009 – Nokia phone case guaranteed to keep thieves at bay – http://www.geardiary.com/2009/01/30/nokia-phone...
- I love this article because it’s fun and practical. It’s good not to take everything serious all the time.
Feb. 2009 – 2009 Jaguar XF supercharged – Kitty has claws! – http://www.geardiary.com/2009/02/27/2009-jaguar...
-This is just a lustable machine. Even though I'll probably never own one, a girl can always dream. Love all the gadgets.
March 2009 – Madonna album deal – $5 – http://www.geardiary.com/2009/03/28/madonna-alb...
- I was all over this deal. I have this album on cassette, so I definitely needed an upgrade. I really enjoy all the price and deal alerts. In today's economy, you need to save every $1 you can.
April 2009 – i-wood 3B: The Latest in Splinter Fast Mobile Technology – http://www.geardiary.com/2009/04/24/i-wood-3b-t...
-How can you not enjoy poking fun at 'the' gadget. I loved this!!!
May 2009 – Android Storage plans 50GB for $10 a year – http://www.geardiary.com/2009/05/31/android-sto...
-I am considering buying an Android phone, and an extra storage app like this could be a big help, especially with music. Great info!!!
June 2009 – Review – Cocoon Innovations Netbook Case – http://www.geardiary.com/2009/06/17/review-coco...
-I’m a bag-o-holic, so bag reviews always make me happy. Plus, my netbook needs fashion as well.
July 2009 – Brilliant but Doomed Technology
-http://www.geardiary.com/2009/07/29/brilliant-but-doomed-technology/
-Its always fun to see where we have been and where we are going. I love the old tech posts.
August 2009 – Taking the Gorillapod to the Extreme! -http://www.geardiary.com/2009/08/31/taking-the-gorillapod-to-the-extreme/#more-45663
-Great use of outside the box thinking for a gadgety item. It just shows we geeks can be extreme too.
Sept. 2009 – Tux Droid: a Nabaztag for Linux Geeks-http://www.geardiary.com/2009/09/29/tux-droid-nabaztag-for-linux-geeks/
-Ok, so I may have no use for this device, but I loved the article anyway. It’s off the wall, and I love to see new ideas for today’s tech.
Oct. 2009 – Report from the trenches: Recon at Barnes and Noble http://www.geardiary.com/2009/10/30/report-from...
-This is one of the tech items I am most interested in, so it was great to see continued coverage.
Nov. 2009 – Sennheiser MM400 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones – Review-http://www.geardiary.com/2009/11/29/sennheiser-mm400-bluetooth-stereo-headphones-review/
-I always appreciate the reviews. Sometime just customer reviews can be sketchy, so it’s very helpful to get info from people I ‘know’ and trust.
Dec. 2009 – This was a tie. I absolutely loved Judie’s Nook review and her insight into internet dating. I think these 2 articles sum up things I love best about the site: it gives a personal spin to today’s tech news.
The Barnes & Noble nook; or how I managed to completely waste my Saturday on a piece of over-hyped hardware
http://www.geardiary.com/2009/12/13/the-barnes-...
January – Construction utensils make it ok to play with food at the table – I am a big kid at heart and these construction utensils give me an excuse to make motor noises at the table while only garnering a few odd looks from nearby diners.
February – Unboxing the Amazon Kindle 2 – I LOVE unboxing videos (which is why I subscribe to Larry Greenberg’s YouTube account). It’s the ulitmate gadget pr0n and allows me to live vicariously through the reviewers. The pictures in this post are clear and give me a solid understanding of how big the device is and the clarity of the images displayed onscreen.
March – omegle – talk to stranger people than you normally do – because, really, who doesn’t want to talk to complete strangers on the Internet? This has fun (and Chris Hansen) written all over it. I thought the article was great just for its randomness.
April – Unboxing the Vertu Ascent Ti – Unboxing this phone looked like you were unboxing a gift from the FBI, with all those boxes, pouches and papers . The pictures were beautiful, but I couldn’t wrap my head around the $8k price tag. Unboxing win, pricing fail.
May – Review: Clue for iPhone and iPod Touch – the review was thorough with plenty of screenshots (something lacking in reviews on other sites). I know Larry gave this game a good review, but from the description of the game play, I knew it wasn’t for me. Good thing I read this first, because I was dangerously close to pushing the “Buy” button in iTunes.
June – Restoring Family Treasures: My Great-Grandfather’s Pocket Watch – beautiful imagery to complement a beautiful history. This post was brilliant.
July – Feature: An iPhone developer who survived Nintendo and Apple taking him down – I love reading stories/interviews about people who fight “the Man”, but sadly these guys didn’t really win. Losing 90% of their sales hurt them significantly and is a wake-up to those of us developing iPhone apps that may or may not (knowingly) infringe on existing copyrights.
August – Today’s “Apple Are You Kidding Me?!” Moment – I am totally for any news article or blog post that brings Apple’s stupidity to light. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Mac and my iPhone, but there are plenty of times when Apple needs to be shown how wrong it is about something (like rejecting an app for inane reasons). Keep more of these coming, please and let’s bring them to Apple’s attention!
September – Review: Breathe new life into your iPod with RockBox – before this article, I hadn’t heard about anyone modding the firmware on their old iPods. It was cool to see you could do something to a video iPod other than keep it as a backup if your iPod Touch died.
October – Report from the trenches: Recon at Barnes and Noble – before the Nook was released, I tried to get my eyes on as many blogs, videos and pics as possible of Barnes and Noble’s elusive device. Your recon work and pics at Barnes and Noble helped me through some tough times…thank you.
November – Ideum Releases Widescreen Multi-Touch Table – I desperately want a disposable income so I can purchase a Microsoft Surface table and the video in this post re-affirmed how great the idea of a computerized table can be. Such a neat idea!
December – The Camangi WebStation: More Information and A New Promotional Video – This Android device has me really thinking more about the tablet market and what’s to come. It also shows how influential the iPhone has become in the cellphone and tablet computer industry. Many of the images and gestures in the promotional video look like they came off a new Apple tablet concept device or a new iPhone iteration. Great article and great sneak peak at what could be a killer device.

Any idea why my comment was flagged?
no clue what happened there!!! checking into it now …
No idea.
urgh!! and i loved your comment, too! i was one of the ones who “liked” it! trying to find out what happened … still!
Me too. I love it when they say Luke is cute!
Awww, thanks. Hope u get it fixed. For now I'll blame it on Steve Jobs not liking my “about friggin' time, that's why” comment regarding the iPhone's software update post on GD. *evil laugh*
worst case scenario – i can go into your comments through disqus and copy/paste it as reply in this thread. Very, very bizarre, as it is not even giving me the option of moderating it.

12. December: Larry Greenberg Unboxes… Aprils Fool on December 16th. Why?
Thanks Judie. It's a conspiracy theory :'(
Huh – mine is gone too – not even a “flagged”
And so it the one from the person who had posted first in the thread. Sorry I can't remember who it was…
OKAY. Grr. Let me see if I can get yours back, and I am going to turn off the LIKE option, because that is the only thing I can think of that might be causing this. :-/
That was khouryrt, I believe. I was able to retrieve her comment and repost – which is what I am going to attempt to do now with yours. :-/
And here is your post, reposted:

Of course, I had a brand new Magellan that I got to give as a gift, sitting all wrapped up.
No, there was one above hers. She was the second person to reply. Whoever
was the first one to post is also missing. FYI
CRAP. OK – about to kill disqus. :-/

new day / different device
Okay … that’s it for this site and Disqus. We tried it, there was much to like, but at the end of the day, it is a BUGGY MESS. Look – all out comments are back.
January – Dave Dickson Asks “Will It Blend?” Oh come on, who in the right mind hasn’t wanted to throw something ridiculous into a powerful blender, or more importantly, derive vicarious entertainment from watching someone else do it?
February – Glasi Hergiswil Pilsner Beer Glass Review Well, it was an interesting beer, interesting glass, and I grew up in Chicago’s orbit, so that piqued my interest. Especially Chris confirming my weather crack.
March – The ACME MADE Courier Laptop Bag Review I was in the market for a laptop bag, and while I had already purchased a well-reviewed one, I saw that Judie got her hands on an ACME Made one, and having seen myself how sharp they look was interested and, well a wee bit jealous. Though thank goodness I’ve got good vision…those strips would have driven an astigmatic nuts!
April – When good gadgets die…. April Okay, I admit a slight bias here because the unit in question suffering ailments was an HTC Advantage X7501, which I also own, so I was sympathetic to the fellow’s suffering.
May – Win an AT&T Pantech Matrix Pro I’m partial to this post because, well I was the winner of this nice phone and card. Funny thing was that the day I won I found a couple of 4-leaf clovers an hour before Judie sent me a winning email…the 4 leaf clover, ironically, is the logo of one of her favorite little cars, too!
June- Restoring Family Treasures: My Great-Grandfather’s Pocket Watch. There were three things that caught my eye 1)Pocket watches. I love pocket watches. These items, particularly the windups, when properly cared for will still tell time when mobile phones we use now are crushed and mouldering in some landfill centuries from now. 2) It was interesting reading up on Judie’s watch’s provenance, and 3) I love Portland and have heard of Terry Nelson. Great bit of photography, storytelling and a happy ending.
July – R.I.P. – CompuServe 1969-2009 I can’t believe it lasted as long as it did, but I spent many endless hours on Compuserve for a few years back in the early 90s. There was a part of me that was sad to see it go, but 40 years was a decent run for it.
August – Samsung Jack Reviewed at Mobile Jaw I also reviewed this phone, so I was interested in getting the other non-GD
reviewer’s take on it. Plus Chris posted a nice photo of the unit…the Jack was so blinkin’ shiny and I hate getting camera reflections into my review pictures!
September – SPB Releases Mobile Shell 3.5 for Windows Mobile I’ve been using SPB Mobile Shell on a couple of devices since it was first introduced, and since I recently put version 3 on my Fuze I was very interested in what bells and whistles SPB had added to a really fine product.
October – Making a bootable USB stick to upgrade to Windows 7 – Well Clinton’s article was right up my alley. I have a Samsung NC10 netbook and did some Win 7 upgrade research on it over at ademiller.com (Ade Miller is Development Manager for Microsoft’s patterns & practices group). Clinton’s article dovetailed nicely with Miller’s article and should make my upgrade all the more easy.
November – My Black Friday Adventure: 2009 – Okay, I’ve never participated in a a Black Friday shopping spree, largely because I hate getting stuck in rabid crowds, so Joel’s article was a nice vicarious adventure for me over a cup of joe from the relative safety of my home office.
December – Review: Tom Bihn Synapse I think Joel’s a man after my own heart…always looking for the optimal storage bag for sundries. Of course, then Judie just had to do her Waterfield Muzetto Vertical laptop bag and play she said/he said with Jason Surgine.
Mmmm…leather.

October: Pleo the Baby Dino is Back!
http://www.geardiary.com/2009/.....o-is-back/
- I love Pleo. It is such a great idea, and I think it is perfect for people in the city without access to pets/can not care for one all the time or a not allowed them in their living situation. It’s a super cool robot.
November: Sennheiser MM400 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones – Review
http://www.geardiary.com/2009/.....es-review/
- While the price is high, it is really worth it. I love these headphone and picked them up after reading the review. I go to Ontario a lot, and I’m glad they have the in-flight function, it was really smart thinking on Sennheisers part.
December: With a wave of the Magic Wand– poof, your TV station’s been hanged
http://www.geardiary.com/2009/.....n-changed/
- Ordered as soon as I read this. Got two of them one for myself, and one for my sister and her family.
Guys, I have tried to post my comment three times, and ever time I hit submit it does not go through. Yet when I type these little ones they do go through.
Sorry Orako! Since you were kind enough to add links in your comment, it sent you directly to spam. All is better now, and I deleted the two extra comments. Thanks for entering!
Thanks so much Judie, I really appreciate it! Happy Holidays.
Ok so here are my favorite posts from you guys:
January: Blue’s New Eyeball
I like this because I buy a lot of webcams and its hard to find good audio and video quality webcams. I like its discreteness (it looks like a mic).
February: 2009 Jaguar XF supercharged – Kitty has claws!
I’m car enthusiast as well. This is a kick ass car, period.
March: ProClip offers adjustable mount that grips and charges an encased iPhone or Touch
Mounts are another product that are hard to purchase because some are just not well made. The fact that you can put your iPhone or iPod with a case on the mount, is an absolute plus. Another great thing is that its simple to install.
April: New Seagate Replica PC Backup Appliance
Seagate external hard drives it what I use. So knowing that this product can back up multiple computers sold me right on the spot. Always back up your computer people, I’ve learned the hard way on losing all my data to not doing so.
May: 22″ 1080 HD LCD Monitor – comes with pretty decent Dell Vostro 220 – $369
This desktop looks like a beast and the price is killer, starting at $369, you just can’t go wrong. Now that Windows 7 is out, this computer will be one of the best, especially with that 22″ monitor.
June: Kerchoonz Releases the K-Box
I was amazed when I saw this little speaker. I’m always amazed on how technology products get smaller and smaller, but pack a punch when comes to all its capabilities. Best part is that the battery lasts up to 20hrs. This went on my wishlist.
July: Belkin Releases Headphone Adapter for iPod shuffle
I was very happy to hear that Belkin release this adapter. I have the iPod shuffle 3g and was so frustrated to know that I would be stuck with those apple headphones, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy my music. But, thanks to Belkin and great accessory line, I’m a happy camper.
August: Review: Coveroo Custom Cases
This was a good article to read, just for the fact that my girlfriend has an iphone and has always wanted a custom case for her phone. I personally like that companies allow you to customize their products. The price is great too.
September: Creative Introduces Inspire S2 Wireless Speaker System
This is by far one of my favorite products from your website. I enjoy listening to my music, especially when using my laptop. Its great that there’s no wires involved and the best part is the bluetooth capabilities. This is a great product.
October: Make it through the day with USB Fever External Batteries for the iPhone
I like this post because products like these are a life-saver. In general, back up batteries are the best and most important accessory for your electronics especailly your phones. USB Fever always has great iphone accessories too.
November: Shopping part deux: Cyber Monday
I liked this post, just for the simple reason that I knew you guys would deliver. You guys posted some great deals to shop for and shopping on the internet is always so convenient. Thanks GearDiary.
December: Gear Deal: Sony Vaio W Netbook w/ Windows 7 for $374.25
I’m currently in the market for a new computer, but one really for just on the road. Just for quick access to documents and email. So I’m definitely considering this Sony netbook. The price is good and it comes packed with Windows 7, thats a plus in my book.
Thanks everyone at GearDiary for always having the latest news on technoloy/gadgets and gizmos. Keep up the great work. Happy Holidays!
My post disappeared too!
I’ll try it again with no links.
@thehotrod – If it has more than 2 links, I think WP automatically sends it to moderation.
It’s a pain, but they do it to keep a spam handled.
I had almost all of these ‘Starred’ in my Google Reader account. Thanks for a great year of tech news, info, and help. Merry Christmas.
January: Use Paypal’s free disposable credit card number to manage recurring charges
This is a great tip on some of Paypal’s lesser-known features. Thanks so much.
February: The Amazing Hubble Telescope in Action.
I can’t get enough Hubble or Space images. It is simply amazing to see how big the Universe is and how infinitesimal we are.
March: The Ultimate Windows Mobile Business Phone.
Ever since I got my first Zaurus years ago, I’ve been a pocket pc nerd. I loved my Windows Mobile devices until I got my iPhone. But I still like keeping up with the old WM world.
April: Watching Local Jobs Disappear.
This recession is affecting us all and using technology to document and visualize it is cool.
May: Livescribe Pen in Action This post helped, caused, made me by the Livescribe pen. I LOVE IT. One of my best tech purchases of the year. Thanks GearDiary Team.
June: Restoring Family Treasures: My Great-Grandfather’s Pocket Watch
This is a non-tech post, but I really liked because, I too have my Great Grandfather’s and my Grandfather’s pocket watches. Thankfully mine still work and are in good condition, but they don’t have the history that these watches had.
July: First Look: Navigon (Lite) for iPhone with North America Maps
Ah the iPhone. I can’t get enough of it. iPhone this and iPhone that. And while using it as a GPS is not perfect, Navigon is probably the best GPS solution for the iPhone. Thanks for your in-depth reviews of all things iPhone.
August: Resource: Snow Leopard Software Compatibility List
Because of the iPhone and probably Gear Diary and it’s team….I ended up getting my first Mac in 17 years. I’ve been a loyal Windows user and I would never use constrained limited Mac. But it is not constrained or limited. My Macbook is the best piece of computer hardware I’ve ever owned. And the software is really reliable too. Thanks to the Gear Diary for helping me to stay up to date in all things Mac.
September: Monolingual: Delete unused language packs on your Mac.
Again, this was an excellent Mac tip that freed up some good space on my Macbook.
October: Nerf “N-Strike” Elite Blasts Through To Retail On October 27th!
We are getting this for Christmas thanks to this heads up on what should be an excellent Wii game for my whole family.
November: PowerCurl Keeps MacBook Cords Organized- Review
Another Mac tip…this one for something I didn’t think I’d actually ever use, but I saved it in my ‘starred’ section of Google Reader just in case. Lately I’ve been traveling a lot and having the full-length cord for my Macbook has been helpful in hotels. This might be just the thing I need.
December: Road Trip!: iGo My Way, Sygic Mobile, Navigon, and CoPilot Live
This is a great comprehensive review of several of the GPS mapping products for the iPhone. It is really helpful to keep track of the different mapping solutions available. Thanks.
Thanks for a wonderful year of information. Reading Gear Diary is something I do almost everyday. Merry Christmas and safe Holiday travels to you all.
Rodney
No Problem. I was just hoping to make it easier for everyone to go back and read my favorite posts. Merry Christmas. I better get off the computer and back to the family.

June: “iPhone 3GS Gives YouTube a 400% Boost in Mobile Uploads”
Shows how powerful and influencing Apple products are. The iphones are revolutionary.
July:”Like Your Pictures on Facebook? So Do Advertisers”
This gave me some nice information that will help me keep my privacy. I don’t post many photos, but I deleted some of them because I was a bit scared. Haha, not a bad thing to do though.
August: “Yup, There’s An App For Crap, On The iPhone”
This was funny, not the most appropriate for audience purposes but it made me laugh. There are so many of these parodies though.
September: “iPod touch Gen 3 First Look”
What can I say? I bought this baby, and I don’t regret a single thing about it. It is flawless.
October: “Pleo the Baby Dino is Back!”
When I first saw this product when I was visiting Tokyo, I REALLY wanted it. Anything pleo related is entertaining to me (although it has a some-what steep pricing)
November: “Black Friday deal round up”
Helpful post, I was going to go to blackfriday, but decided against it. I still regret that…hehe

January 2009: White Castle reservation line.
Why?: Gut bombs! I remember when they were $0.05 each. Fortunately there are still enough White Castles in my area to keep my appetite sated. I can also get them frozen at the grocery store.
February 2009: Hubble Space Telescope
Why?: I think we’ve already been visited by extraterrestrial life forms. My all time favorite outer space movie is (the original) “The Day The Earth Stood Still”. Star Trek, Star Wars and Stargate are all great because they show the contact is possible.
March 2009: ProClip mounts
Why?: I have been using ProClip mounts for many years. I lease a new car every 3 years, which means I have to redo all of my gadget installations often. I’ve also got a couple of friends hooked on them.
April 2009: USB Borescope
Why?: I enjoy running wires. This gadget would make it so much easier to dig wires out of the wall if I could see where they were.
May 2009: elite al-pro qx2 storage array
Why?: I have used NAS solutions for many years. I’m currently using Maxtor 1TB and Linksys 1TB setups. The Elite-Al is a cool concept, but come on, all that money for a drive solution and then expecting the customer to buy more software is ridiculous.
June 2009: Great grandfather’s pocket watch
Why?: This brought back good memories. I have my great-grandfather’s Gruen pocket watch that was given to him by his fellow lodge members. I never did find out what lodge it was. It’s inscribed to him and dated 1912.
July 2009: Apple and Google Voice
Why?: Get real Apple, AT&T and Google. Someone had to do it.
August 2009: Today’s Apple are you kidding me moment
Why?: Just reinforces my desire to never own anything with iPod/iPhone in the name. Another case of Apple not seeing the forest thru the trees. BTW…I use ewallet on my pockerpc and find it works well.
September 2009: Iosafe CEO gives back
Why?: I do volunteer work and it’s always nice to see someone stepping forward to help others.
October 2009: Bootable USB stick to upgrade to Windows 7
Why?: I was about to buy a netbook with Windows XP and had made one of my 4GB sticks ready. I usually procrastinate when I’m about to spend money and this time I waited long enough to buy the AspireOne with Windows 7 Starter. I’ve since upgraded to Windows 7 Pro.
November 2009: Motorola t215 Bluetooth kit
Why:? I have the Motorola T305 and it’s garbage. When I used it,m people would always claim I was in a tunnel. Sad to see Motorola has not made much progress.
December 2009: Geni.com
A cousin of my wife’s invited us to join. This thing replicates like the Star Trek tribbles. Now we find out about far removed relatives’ birthdays and anniversaries.
I waited till last moment so i can have more option under dec category.

So it might looks like you are paying $199 for phone. but reality is different and how many of them continue use those data plans.
