NORAD is ready to track Santa!

Posted on 24 December 2009 by Amy Zunk

Its getting close kids.  Its time to track the Big Red Guy as he makes his way from the North Pole to all the girls and boys in the world.  Do you want to check and make sure he is on his way?  Well, the good folks at NORAD are stepping up once again. This year they’re providing radar coverage and up-to-the-minute info on his every move.

Every year volunteer military personnel work through Christmas Eve to track Santa. He is tracked via some “special equipment” that shows him on Google Maps and Google Earth. It’s a special duty that the volunteers are glad to go for all the children of the world.

There will be regular reports on the web site as Santa comes closer to the USA and stops in countries all over the world. The trackers also remind kids about the importance of going to bed early so Santa won’t have to skip their houses.  This is the one time of the year that going to bed on time is a good thing, kids!

You can also track Santa in Google Earth, visit m.noradsanta.org on your mobile device, or just search for “Santa” on Google Maps on your phone.  There is also a way to connect to Santa via the Onstar service in your car.

Also check out the official NORAD Santa tracker web site for up to date information.

Thanks Lifehacker for keeping us in the Christmas spirit!
