A few quick items from Barnes and Noble’s Nook, just in time for Christmas:
- Despite all the up and downs concerning the Nook, it looks like they made out ok in 2009. According to B&N, they sold 60,000 nooks this year. They are projecting over 500,000 sold in first quarter 2010 alone. High expectations for a device that has been plagued with firmware issues and delivery problems.
- Remember that B&N said that if you didnt get your Nook by Christmas, you’d get a $100 gift certificate? Well, B&N was able to rally the troops and have promised folks who ordered their Nook for Christmas that it WILL be under the tree.
“We’re happy to report that all customers who pre-ordered nooks and were given a pre-holiday estimated shipping date will be sent their nooks in time to receive them by Christmas. As you know, there’s been an overwhelmingly positive response and unprecedented demand since Barnes & Noble announced its new eBook reader on October 20th. Customer demand continues to be strong and new orders will be fulfilled beginning February 1, 2010. “
