GearGames Weekly: December 27 – January 2, 2010!

Posted on 28 December 2009 by

Welcome back to the GearGames weekly video game release feature here at Gear Diary! It is interesting that when looking for new releases this week I came across a hefty list … only to discover that almost every one was cancelled and just had a placeholder ’12/31/09′ date. With some of the games there I was half surprised Duke Nukem Forever wasn’t on the list! Anyway, of the three games left, one is known delayed into January, one is only coming out this week on one of three platforms … leaving only World Party Games for the Wii as a full retail release.

Other than that we get the X360 release of Borderlands: Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot X360 this week, with the PS3 release in two weeks and the PC release coming eventually.

Some notes from last week:

  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
  • - Sadly the best part of this very average game is everything BUT the main story.

  • Guitar Hero: Van Halen
  • - IGN said it best … “No effort was put into making it good.”

  • Twin Sector
  • - A mediocre Portal clone.

  • Supreme Ruler 2020 Global Crisis
  • - Another solid expansion to the very good RTS game.

What games am I playing now? As I keep saying, I’m still playing catch-up with the fall season, though I am getting closer to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel … so here are a few active games:

  • PC: Dragon Age: Origins – I am still waiting for my Mac copy, and had planned to start again, but am chipping away on my latest mage replay.
  • PC: Torchlight – replaying yet again … in Netbook mode!
  • PSP: Buzz! Quiz World – loads of fun to play with more options than the original! Having fun playing with my wife!

So what are you playing? Chime in below!

Enjoy gaming!

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
