Reports of the new 14MP Samsung CL80 camera leaked out late last week. The camera was supposed to be introduced at CES but unofficially was on display at the Samsung website for a short time. The page is no longer available at the time of this writing but most sites were able to grab the important information before it was pulled. I think Samsung threw it out there as a teaser, which is not uncommon with the electronics market lately.
The CL80 looks to be setting some new standards for compact cameras. All that left is maybe throw in a 3G setup and you’ll be tweeting with your camera while you stream live video during your trip to Gradma’s. Specs are surely impressive for such a small camera, but also could add to the price tag. We’ll find out more at CES. The only thing that I see as an issue so far is a Micro SD slot.
Specs:
- 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen display w/ haptic feedback
- Wifi w/ instant update to Flickr, Facebook, and others
- 14MP CCD with true color filter at 4344 x 3256
- 7X Optical Zoom with optical and digital image stabilizers
- 720p high def video in H.264, HDMI 1.3 (output)
- 4.03″ (W) x 2.3″ (H) x 0.74″ (D)
