Video calling comes to the iPhone

Posted on 01 December 2009

The newest version of Fring, version 3.0.04, now supports video calls for the iPhone. It’s only one-way right now.  The iPhone has no front facing camera so the application limits the iPhone user to only allow you to see the person you’re talking to providing that he/she is on a computer making a Skype connection, but hey it’s a start. Fring is available as a free download in the iTunes App Store here (link opens iTunes.) Check out the neat video Fring has released about the feature. Continue reading on Gear Diary …

The Sun (UK) Spoofs iPhone Ad

Posted on 01 December 2009

AT&T & Verizon Wireless are locked in a battle of television commercials that seem to be mostly centered about one having the iPhone and the other not having it. The Sun, a newspaper publication based in the U.K., has released their own ad spoofing the iPhone and it’s quite clever. The Sun has been the UK’s best handheld for 40 years. Top news, sports, photos, gossip and games in an easy-to-share format. No waiting for pages to load, no contract, no losing reception. There’s no substitute for the Sun. Android Developers Challenge Winners Announced

Posted on 01 December 2009

The 2nd annual Android Developers Challenge just wrapped up and its winners have been announced.  Why is this important?  Its because the applications these developers have created will soon find their way into the Android Market, and then on to our Android devices (Droid anyone?) The winners of the ADC get $150,000 for the top overall application.  Not too shabby.  Now add that seed to whatever they will charge in the Android Market (hopefully not to much).  Its a nice way to make a living if you can… Continue reading on Gear Diary …
