Dan is sending notes live from the event:
The press event is rather small. surprisingly so. The company handed out 3D glasses. Clearly they are about to show some of their newest video hardware.
Jen-0Hsun Huang- CEO and co-founder
New era- not the pc era but the “personal computing revolution”
All the new handhelds share something in common. they all do what we did before but they do it more conveniently. Example- email on the BB is more convenient than having to wait until you get home to respond.
Music- something we loved to do was made more convenient by the Sony Walkman.
etc…
All the new technologies have made a new series of devices possible that let us do more and do it more conveniently.
Hitachi micro-drive let us take 1000 songs in your pocket and along with us
The Kindle lets us take hundreds of books with us in 60 seconds thanks to eInk
The iPhone came out positioned as “three devices as one”. Two of the devices already existed. The third was a web browser in a mobel computer that came with a terribly limited number of applications. But at its core because it was web enabled it made it possible for the app world to come into being. Thanks to this device the mobile computing market was allowed to bloom.
There are issues with mobile devices in the area of resolution. The average website is 600 to 1020 wide while the screen is often 480 by 320. Sure we can reformat the site. BUT there are over 100 million websites. So 100 million mobile formatted websites??? Not possible. (100,000 apps in the App Store is hard enough.)
“Increasingly the web has become an application.”
Example- Facebook… and (Larry’s favorite) Farmville. Launched in June of last year with a few hundred users. Now has 78 million user PER DAY!!! Itr has become the fastest growing game in the history of humankind. People spending time on web applications. Not just websites.
All of this is currently possible only on a PC. But as pc is heavy, has short battery life and is relatively fragile. We can’t take it with us everywhere.
“We need a new solution that gives us the portability and accessibility of a smartphone but the resolution, power and performance and web-usability of a pc. This has been a daunting challenge.”
In the past it
Today i can declare that today is the beginning of the tablet revolution”
Read more after the break:
New Tegra processor. 8 independent processor. Worlds first dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU. TEN TIMES the performance of the average smartphone. AND uses 20 times less power than a pc.
“Tegra is the missing link in computing.”
140 hours on one charge
16 hours of HD video on one charge
Dan is in the demo.
Great for ebooks.

It looks awesome in person.
Asus, MSI are announcing high end gaming pcs that ship with the 3D Vision Technology. Over 400 games have been developed. The Avatar game trailer is mind blowing.
More companies on board too. Most panels soon 3D Vision Ready.
Now showing 3D photos. Pulls you into the image. Have to see to believe!
Watching a Disney trailer. You will never want to watch movies in any other way. It is that enjoyable. Pulls you right in.
Without the glasses the image is blurry to the point of unwatchable.

Adobe is posting Adobe Air to the platform which makes emags a real possibility.
There is also a new G Force in production which makes surround 3D possible.
