If you were waiting for the Nexus One backlash, it has arrived. There have been loads of complaint articles and flooded forum postings over the last week about various issues, now the all-too-common complaint about network speed is hitting the new Google phone.

The complaint states that users are dealing with their phones dropping out of 3G mode and into the slower 2G EDGE network. This seems to be happening in areas where other T-Mobile phones are able to access the 3G network without issue. According to one user quoted in the article:

I’m having this same problem. My G1 has 3G with full strength, but sitting right next to it my Nexus has 1 bar of 3G and keeps switching to Edge… I’m at the point where I’m about to send this thing back. It ruins the whole experience if I can’t ever stay on 3G for more than a few seconds.

It is not clear what is causing the issue, but quick checks of forums and user groups shows an increasing frustration about this – and several other issues.

How about you – are you seeing 3G connection issues with your Nexus One?

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!

In in NYC and haven’t had a single 3G issue on mine. Everything’s working just fine.

@aaronfg – glad to hear it. I think as always there are network coverage aspects that interact with device and OS.
