There’s been  a glimmer of hope that Microsoft may show off Windows Mobile 7 next month in Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress.  Consumers and companies alike who have been using Windows Phones are looking forward to seeing whether Microsoft can truly reinvent the mobile market.  Now, however, rumor has it that not only will we not be getting a peek at Windows Mobile 7, but it’s likely that we won’t see it until next year’s Mobile World Congress in 2011.

According to the Bright Side of News:

…representatives from Microsoft, Lenovo, Qualcomm, TI, Nokia, nVidia, HTC and many more … all had just one message – Windows Mobile 7 is delayed until 2011 and the focus is shifting to Google Android and even Chrome OS as a way to battle the competitors during 2010.

If true, this delay may give Android the headway it needs to truly penetrate the enterprise.  Any delay in a Windows Mobile 7 release is certainly good news for Google, Apple and RIM.

So Microsoft is delaying WM7 for another year and focusing on Android and Crome to fight competition… that’s good.

Seriously, truth is that WM7 is allready at least two years too late and for any other platform that would be the end. But since Microsoft is behind WM with it’s wast resources they could still have a chance if WM7 is really really good and ready – like NOW.
If they delay it for another year, noone will use WM anymore even if Microsoft gives a free Windows7 lincence with every WM7 licence. It’s just game over.
