Welcome back to the GearGames weekly video game release feature here at Gear Diary! That lead-in picture looks pretty cool, eh? Orb and Oracle … also sounds interesting, doesn’t it. What’s more – the creative force behind it is the same guy who produces the best written of the Wizardry games. Sounds exciting, right? Only problem – the game has been considered ‘dead’ for months, including removing the user forums and the game’s home page. But it was never officially cancelled, so it has remained on release lists.
Aside from that, not much of note – a very average-looking multi-platform action-adventure called Dark Void, a new Silent Hill game for the Wii and a few DS games. Twin Sector is actually already out for PC this week, but was delayed a couple of days last week … and either way based on my early experience isn’t worth playing! There are a few other games coming out this week, so check out the list!

- Dark Void
- Death By Cube
- Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment

- Dark Void

- Satisfashion

- Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

- No New Releases

- Glory of Heracles
- Dark Void Zero
- Shepherd’s Crossing 2
- Bejeweled Twist
- Starship Patrol

- Twin Sector
- Dark Void
- Orb and the Oracle
Some notes from last week:
- Army of Two: The 40th Day
- Vancouver 2010: The Official Videogame of the Winter Olympic Games
- The console versions are getting average reviews, with everyone seeing flaws but saying there is still loads of fun. The PSP version matches my experience – terrible.
- Better than Torino by a long shot, this remains a ‘fans only’ game.
What games am I playing now? Here is a sampling:
- Mac: Dragon Age: Origins – I am thrilled at how well this plays on the Mac – much more like a direct port than a typical poor-performing Cider-wrapped port.
- PC: Divinity II: Ego Draconis – deep into this one, and still having a great time, only a few bugs so far.
- PC: Planescape Torment – just basking in the best writing ever in any video game … and lamenting that it is over a decade old and no one has matched their artistry.
So what are you playing? Chime in below!
Enjoy gaming!
