T-mobile announced a few weeks ago that the coveted HTC HD2 will be coming to US shores. According to the HTC, the phone will be receiving a nice upgrade before the trip over the pond. Specs show that the phone will have a RAM and ROM update for the US which makes is more compatible with the new 7 mobile OS coming later this year.
The original specs are 512MB Rom and 448MB Ram. The new specs will boost the memory to 1GB Rom and 576MB of Ram, which is a nice boost and will be the highest Internal Rom and Ram on a US handset. Another nice bonus thrown in is a 16GB MicroSD card over the original 2GB model. This will be handy for storing all your media content without having to go spend an extra $35 after the purchase of a phone. Currently the only other phone I know of that comes with such a large memory card is the Blackberry Storm 2.
Browsing the forums, I noticed that most current HD2 owners complain of the short battery life. The battery is only a 1230 mAh, which is one of the smallest batteries in a Snapdragon phone we have seen. I would hate to have to buy an extended battery and ruin the amazingly slim design of the phone. I would have liked to see an upgrade to an AMOLED screen on this device. But I’ll leave complaints out until the phone is actually released, and I can put my hands on it.
For now, it’s indeed one of the largest touchscreen handsets out, and I know it’s something I wouldn’t mind having myself. Lets hope T-Mobile heavily subsidizes the phone down to nice price, and WinMo 7 comes sooner than later. Launch is currently slated for March.
