McGraw Hill CEO Gets Too Chatty With CNBC, Confirms Apple Tablet

Posted on 26 January 2010 by

I know, I know…you don’t ever want to hear the phrase “Apple Tablet” again. And hopefully by tomorrow we’ll have some confirmation and the flurry of rumors will finally quiet down for a few days. But until then, here’s more fuel to fire the speculation…

Apparently the McGraw Hill CEO needs to use one of his dictionaries to look up the definition of “non-disclosure agreement”…because I’m pretty sure confirming the Apple Tablet to CNBC was not part of it. Check out the above video, about 3 minutes in, for confirmation that you aren’t getting your hopes up for another iPod Hifi.

Carly has been a gadget fiend for a long time, going back to her first PDA (a Palm M100). She quickly went from researching what PDA to buy to following tech news closely and keeping up with the latest and greatest stuff. She loves writing about ebooks because they combine her two favorite activities; reading anything and everything, and talking about fun new tech toys. What could be better?

“I like to smell my textbooks?” Hey, I would have been *thrilled* to have had eTextbooks in college. UCSC is built on a bunch of hills, and lugging physics and calculus and chemistry and C.S. textbooks up and down hill and dale was a friggin’ *nightmare*. I can *easily* live without the smell.

Also, maybe having textbooks in electronic form will *finally* put some downward pressure on the price. I’d rather buy my daughter a tablet and pay, I dunno, $25 for a calculus textbook than shell out $100 for a used one. (She’s 14, and the middle school counselors keep talking about college. Really, don’t get me started.)
