Scosche Announces kickBACK P Stand and Case for Apple iPad

Posted on 28 January 2010 by

We’ve seen a flood of announcements for iPad cases and accessories already. And why not? I mean, the device WAS announced a full day ago! :)

One of my favorites so far, and the one I want to have day one of my iPad usage, is the newly announced kickBACK P Stand and Case from Scosche.

The Polycarbonate and rubber hybrid case works as a kickstand for the device in both vertical and horizontal positions. It locks in position and promises to make viewing, and using, the iPad easier. What I really love about the design? The molded grips on the back which will make the iPad easier to hold and less likely to take a fall.

The Scosche kickBACK will ship early to mid summer. We look forward to reviewing it here on the site.

The full release follows…

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

From these pics, it’s hard to see how this design allow both horizontal AND vertical positioning. Looks more like (at least) 2 products: one for portrait orientation and one for landscape.

I think the Horizontal and Vertical apply to lying flat and standing up, not ‘Portrait’ and ‘Landscape’.

I’ve been using one of their retractable iPhone charging cords for about a week now, and I have to say I’m pretty impressed. It’s heavy-duty, it works well, and I like that it both locks in place on my iPhone and is reinforced at the cable connection points. If this stand is of similar quality, it will definitely be worth checking out. (Thinking of ordering their iPhone version and checking *that* out.)
