GearDeal- Nokia N900 Mobile Computer Unlocked Cell Phone

Judie just got a Nokia N900 review unit, and she has actually removed her iPhone’s SIM and placed it inside (as opposed to using one of her throwaway, non-main-number SIMs). If you know how much she likes her iPhone, you’ll know that this is a bit of a commitment. I asked her what she thought would be an outrageously low price for a device as powerful and great as this one. She answered “somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 would be awesome – and only because I have other things I need to buy!” I asked her, “So if it was $429.99 and shipped free?” To which she said, “Who? Where?”

Well this is today’s GearDeal. Our GearSponsor just tracked down a Nokia N900 for just $429.99 shipped. That is a full $170 off the normal price of $599.99.

The N900 has a 3.5″ screen, a ARM 600MHz processor, WiFi, HSPA, GPS, 32GB storage, a microSD card and more. As I said, Judie is blown away by it and at this price… hmmmmm. :-)

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
