Help Support Haitian Relief with Schtickers Laptop and iPod Skins

Posted on 05 February 2010 by

Lots of people ask you for money in this modern world, many of them good causes.  The Masons, various church groups, your city government, your school, the local Girl Scouts with their delicious cookies . . . it’s all t0o easy to get lost in a flood of people begging for money when you live in the “developed world”.

But once in a while there is a disaster so horrific, so overwhelming, that no matter how short of cash you are, no matter how many people have been calling you lately asking for money to fight tooth decay or re-elect Sam Spade as Comptroller of your local county, it can’t be ignored.  The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.  The disasters following hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.  And the unbelievable devastation left by last month’s incredibly-destructive earthquake in Haiti.

Many folks have contributed to Haiti–heck, even money-grubbing cell providers are waving fees for money donated through their networks.  And now Schtickers, a company that produces skins for laptops, iPhones, and iPods, has released a special line of skins for which they are donating 100% of their sales to the Haitian relief effort.

Now, it’s not for me to tell you if, and how, to donate money to Haiti.  But if you’ve been looking for a way and haven’t found one that works for you yet, maybe you should surf on over and check out their selection.  You’ll get your device a new skin, and do some good into the bargain.  Seems like a decent deal to me.

Schtickers.com is running this great program to benefit Haiti. We’ve made a line of Support Haitian Relief laptop and iPod skins, and we’re donating 100% of their sales of these to Haitian relief efforts. On top of this, we’re also donating 10% our total January sales to Haiti
as well…

We’re trying to spread the word because we really hope a lot of people purchase them to raise awareness and donate some money to a good cause.

Doug is a nerd from way back, falling for a Commodore PET at the age of 15, and never looking back. Riding the nerd wave, he got a Computer Science degree and entered the tech industry at a young age, deciding after a year and a half of front-line phone technical support that he should try something, *anything* else. He settled on technical writing, and has been cranking out documentation for companies like Unisys, SGI, Cisco, Juniper, and many others ever since. The fact that he commutes between his family in Austin and his day job in California is something that he is simply trying to live with. (Isabelle the Corgi helps.)
