DROID DOES Update…soon!

Looks like Android 2.1 is coming this week! My poor Droid has been in counseling, working through its inferiority complex and Nexus One envy…the update will be a big step for it!

Supposedly the update will bring:

  • Multitouch browsing
  • Google goggles
  • Fancy weather and news widgets
  • Missing in action:

  • Live wallpapers
  • New look for the app drawer
  • Laundry detergent dispenser
  • I am excited for multitouch in the browser and hope it comes to more apps soon! You have no idea how many times I try to pinch and pull photos, like somehow they will magically be multitouch. The only other issue I hope this update fixes is the proximity sensor. During long calls the screen can sometimes pop back on, causing my cheek to hang up the phone…not good.

Most of the missing features seem to be too processor heavy (like the live wallpapers). Not sure what the logic is in leaving off the app drawer changes, but if you really hate the look of it now, there are apps like DXTop that can change the appearance. So that isn’t a huge loss.

What are you hoping to get out of the Droid update? Are you frantically refreshing Moto’s facebook page for more details? Let us know below!
