The Google Nexus One is still receiving a lot of attention. Its is one of the “it” phones of 2010. Most people love it, but there are those who take issue with it, either due to performance issues or support issues.
Last week, Google fixed the performance issues with an update. It also enabled some really cool features, such as multitouch.
This week, some equally cool things are in the works.
On a monetary note, Google has removed the termination fees for those Nexus One buyers who returned their phone for whatever reason. Also, Google has drastically lowered the termination fee it charges for customers who, for some reason, do not want to continue using the phone and the contract with T-Mobile. The rates have been dropped by $200 and are now down to $150 compared with the earlier $350. T-Mobile, however, will charge its own termination fee of $200. Its still better than it was when the Google Nexus One was released.
And in the support area, the Nexus One finally has a dedicated phone support to resolve issues with Nexus online, over a phone call. If you are in U.S., all you need to dial to access the support line is (888) 48NEXUS (63987) between 4 a.m. and 7 p.m. Yes, you can talk to a human about your Nexus One issues and not get the run around between HTC, Google, and T-Mobile. This will be a welcome relief to many Nexus One users/owners.
I think the reason they finally did this, aside from all the user complaints in the forums, is that the Nexus One is due to be released on another provider relatively soon (either AT&T or Verizon) and will more owners, the cries for help will be even louder. Google had to do something now before it got any worse.
Thanks to CNet for the information on this!
