I was reading Engadget this morning and found out about Bug Labs new Bug 2.0 platform of their hacker friendly do it yourself device. They have upgraded the processor in the BugBASE to a Cortex A8 Processor, plus they have added Android support to Bug 2.0. Now you can build your dream Android device.
In case you don’t know what the BugBASE and the Bug Labs kit is, it is a modular system for creating new devices. The kit comes with some modules you can plug into it that add features like a GPS, Wifi and more. Check out my earlier post on the original Bug Labs kit.
Furthermore, on the Bug Labs community web site I found that the hackers working on the Bug have also gotten Ångström Linux distribution running on the BugBASE. Now there are at least three different platforms for the BUGBase including the original Poky Linux.
With the new BugBASE, Android and Ångström Linux coming into the Bug Labs bag of tricks, this platform keeps moving forward and may make some really interesting devices possible.
Update: Also found that they are working with Accenture to help speed the development of new devices using Bug.
Bug is working with partner Accenture at the MWC to show how BUG is used by major enterprise customers around the globe to bring next-gen devices from prototype to market in half the time at half the cost. (BUG/Accenture devices on the floor will be in the areas of home automation, remote healthcare diagnostics, and vehicle/fleet tracking.)
If your lucky enough to go to MWC, then check out Bug Labs.
