Need Inspiration? Check Out the Famous Entrepreneur Trading Cards and WIN

Posted on 03 March 2010 by

Update: This giveaway is now closed and the winner is breley! Keep your eye out for more Gear Diary giveaways! :-)

Everyone love a good success story – one that inspires and compels, and many success stories can be found on Evan Carmichael, the eponymous blog which features famous entrepreneurs’ biographies. I particularly like the Modeling Masters series Evan’s begun, which feature videos of him profiling famous entrepreneurs. Part Biography channel and part Tony Robbins, Evan mixes background information on famous business people with itemized traits which led to their success. If you are a small business owner, or someone who is debating doing something big on your own, Evan Carmichael is a great site to learn tips from and get motivational encouragement.

With that in mind, Evan Carmichael is introducing a series of Famous Entrepreneur Heroes trading cards, which will launch on April 1st, 2010 to benefit Kiva, which “helps small businesses in underprivileged countries.” This series “will feature the likes of Richard Branson, Craig Newmark, and Walt Disney etc.” Evan is offering these cards with the “hope [that they will] raise awareness on entrepreneurship.”

I think it’s a brilliant idea, and I am all for anything that encourages people to reach their full potential. You can pre-order a set of 5 cards on the Evan Carmichael site. Since there are at least 31 famous entrepreneurs featured, you’ll probably want to order several packs; for every three packs ordered, you’ll also get a Special Edition Jobs or Woz card. As an added bonus, every pre-order enters you in a drawing to win a Woz-signed baseball.

So show your support for the entrepreneurial spirit by pre-ordering sets of the Famous Entrepreneurial Heroes trading cards, which will in turn help Kiva help others.

We’ve been offered six sets to give to our readers; here’s how you can enter …

We’ll be giving away three sets of trading cards to our first place winner, two sets to our second place winner, and one set to our third place winner. All you need to do to enter is leave a comment stating the name of your favorite entrepreneur – famous or otherwise – any why.

I’ll pick a winner after midnight CST March 10th, and I will ship cards to the winners after I’ve received them (sometime in April).

This give-away is open to everyone, anywhere in the world.

Bonus: Here’s the Evan Carmichael ‘Modeling the Masters’ video on Harley Davidson, complete with helpful entrepreneurial tips.

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay. Let’s face it, eBay has revolutionized how we buy and sell items of just about every type from antiques to state-of-the-art. For me, it’s also an effective research tool. For example, I have a vintage battery-powered M-1 tin tank my father brought back from Japan, missing a turret, but otherwise works. I couldn’t remember exactly what the turret looked like, but via eBay I not only found what the turret looked like, but also what the going rate for a complete unit is (whether or not it will sell at said price is another story… ;-) ). Plus eBay can be a great place to find an unexpected bargain: while looking for an HTC Advantage accessory I came across (and bought) a gently used X7501 for $100. :-D
