Hey… If It Works For Netflix, Then Why Not Underwear?

Posted on 14 March 2010 by

Manpacks is… the Netflix of underwear. (As opposed to Underoos… “the underwear that’s fun to wear!!”)

Manpacks is a subscription service for underwear. Yes, you read that right. With Manpacks you sign up for a skivvies refresh every three months. That way just about the time they are wearing out, shrinking to nothing, or… (use your imagination). Anyway, just when you need them, new underwear show up in your mailbox…

Yes, this is a real eCommerce company that is intended for the bachelor single man guy among us. Seriously. Really. Has it really come to this? We need a subscription tighty-whiteys??? As my grandmother never said, “Oy vey!”

There are four different subscription levels… and what levels they are…

There’s the “Just Socks” pack that sends you three new pair of socks every three months.

The “Either-Or” nabs you 2 pair of underwear or t-shirts.

The “ManPack” is 2 pair of underwear, 2 t-shirts and 2 pair of socks.

Or you can always supersize your order with the “MachoPack”. That will nab you 3 each of socks, underwear and t-shirts… all Hanes products.

I want to make fun of this. Seriously I do. But I’m not much better. The “magic drawer” always has cash in it, the refrigerator is always full, the dry cleaning is always done and this post only happened because Elana sent me the link with a note — “I feel a post coming on”.

Oh, and she’s starting a new web service. For a monthly subscription she’ll send you 3 links for post ideas too… :-)

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
