GearDeal- GameFly Video Game Rental: 21 Day Free Coupon Code + FREE Magazine

Each day our GearSponsor brings us a great deal on something. One day it is a computer, the next a camera but it is always something good. In fact just the other day one of the deals was so good that I jumped on it right after posting. (The unboxing/review will be up shortly.) The deals can save you ten, twenty, thirty percent or more. That’s great but there is no deal better than… FREE. Here’s one example.

GameFly is to gaming what Netflix is to movies. For a flat monthly fee you can “rent” over 7,000 game titles for XBOX 360, PS3, PSP, Wii and PS2. You keep the games (you can take out two at a time) for as long as you want. When you want a new one you just send back one of the two, postage paid, and then another will be sent.

It is a neat systems and at $22.95 it looks like a good deal for anyone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on individual games that may be played a short while and then collect dust.

Normally the GameFly trial is just ten days but well this GearDeal you can get a 21 day free trial if you take a free 3-month subscription to either Sports Illustrated or Entertainment Weekly. Obviously this is for new customers only. If you are into gaming it is worth a try.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
